It’s never a good sign when the owners start arguments with people who leave bad reviews. However, the amount of great reviews made me give this place the benefit of the doubt. So, how was the food? Well, not great. First of all, they charged us for water and bread without asking us if we wanted it. You always ask your guests for things you charge money for…always! We had the swordfish and a portion of the pastitsio. The swordfish was a bit dry, with a very «fishy» taste, which often can be a result of the fish being stored frozen. If this is the case: A big no-no! Correct me if I’m wrong here(?) It was served with a small portion of raw onions and salad. The pastitsio was also dry as well, with a very hot center and hard crust, which often is a sign of the food being microwaved. Cant confirm this, but it didnt taste excellent. It tasted a bit old. The portion was also very small, with no sauce or any other sides added to it. Overall, disappointing. The atmosphere and location of the restaurant, as well as pleasant staff was the only thing that saved Kosmos from a 2 star rating. Would I recommend? No. Leave your money some place else.

Yes, I'm aware that it is normal to serve bread and water as a standard in Greece. However, this was the first time we were CHARGED money for it, as it was free in all the other places we visited. You always ask ahead of time, IF you're billing it to the table. Yes, fish should taste fish, I'm aware. But, when it tastes very fishy and sticky, it's a sign of the meat not being freshly cooked. Also, you said: "As for the pastitsio, it can't not be fresh given the speed at which food is generally consumed at the restaurant." This is complete nonsense. Read moreFor our last dinner in Limnos, we decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary at Cosmos Taverna, where we had been several times before and were satisfied. Although we had a reservation for 6 people, they gave us a small table for 4 people. When we wanted to move to the big table next to us, they rudely removed us from our seats, made us stand for about 10 minutes and sat us back at the same table they had removed. Of course, although we understand the crowded and profit maximization during the tourism season, we have never seen such rudeness in any Greek island and restaurant we have been going to for 20 years. I do not want to write the name of the head waitress blonde lady in charge there, thinking that it was a mistake of that evening, but I want to inform you that I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone again. As a result, after this unpleasant behavior of the lady, we went to the other restaurant next door and in a wonderful environment (fewer tables, less noise and better service) we ended our wedding anniversary that started badly with great memories. Read moreWe were very disappointed with our visit. We have been loyal customers for years during our holidays and have eaten here more than 20 times. Until now, we have always come back because of the food and atmosphere.
This time, however, the experience was very unpleasant. One of us was served the wrong dish, which we sent back. While one guest got the correct meal, the other had to wait 30 minutes for the replacement. The waiter did apologize, but the owner reacted angrily when we expressed our dissatisfaction and refused to offer any kind of apology or compensation. Instead, he dropped the bill on the table and walked away in frustration.
The owner left the problem to the waiter, who sincerely apologized and even admitted that we were right, but could not do anything about it. He even offered to pay compensation from his own pocket, which shows his professionalism
The food itself was fine, but the service and attitude from the owner were very unprofessional. Mistakes can happen, but how they are handled makes all the difference. After so many years as regular guests, this experience left us feeling very unwelcome, and we sadly cannot recommend this...
