I was on a road trip with my partner and we were looking for a peaceful and quiet place which we could enjoy away from the city and the crowd. We decided to take the car from Heraklion and after a crazy adventure on the road, we ended up in Tris Ekklisis. We were happy to find a secluded, romantic place where we could enjoy the sea and the beach away from the tourists. We arrived there in the evening, and we were starting to get hungry. We saw that there were only 2 places open in this small town and decided to come here, and it was clearly a blessing. When we arrived, Maria and her husband warmly greeted us. Maria helped us with the menu and gave us recommendations. As my partner and I don’t eat pork as well as dairy products, Maria took the effort to serve us something with our requirements. She recommended us two types of fishes and gave us a side of salad which was delicious! It was honestly one of the best dishes we ate from our whole trip in Crete. Maria’s hospitality and kindness made the incredible experience even better. Thank you for the service and thank you for your kindness. We will definitely keep a heartwarming memory of...
Read moreWe have eaten at “O Gialos” 3 times this week and always satisfied. It’s our favorite simple beach taverna in Tris Ekklisies. We really enjoyed speaking with Frank and wish him well with his future endeavors - hopefully we will see him down the road. So back to the food! We knew straight away these guys were honest - one day we went for fish but they said right now we only have frozen which they showed us. So we went with the calamari which was good and the delicious stuffed peppers which Maria makes fresh - we loved 😋 plus the Greek salad is always super fresh here! Thank you to Giorgos 🙏🏼who went out the next day and got us fresh fish which was deliciously prepared and so good, delicate, fresh and tasty. 😎Then on the Friday he went out again to get us the Barbounia which I love. It was delicious too! At first I thought the price was too much, but I checked with my colleague in Athens and he said that the prices were correct. And also, once again, Giorgos had gone out of his way to get me these delicious fish and Maria prepared them perfectly with care. So tender and fresh! Overall - super good beach taverna and extra special service!...
Read moreI arrived too late to Tris Ekklisias, it was dark, cold and very very windy in February, and my booked hotel was closed. In fact everything was closed this Sunday evening in February, I found Maria at her cosy restaurant Gialos. In the winter she is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunch. She helped med with contacting my hotel owner, she feeded me with a splendid chicken in oven and wine, and stayed two hours extra just to secure that the hotel owner arrived and opened the hotel for me - and gave me wifi, as the telephones does not work below the surrounding mountains. Helping me made her having to drive that difficult curvy road way too late in the evening. Maria was my angel. A happy and warm angel that helped me in a very bad situation. I am sure she gives this warmth to all her clients, and I give a great applause for this fantastic women. As she has been cooking for all her kids and grandchildren for many years, she alos offers perfect home cooked food. (Sorry I did not take any picture inside the nice taverna, because I was a bit...
