giannitsis grill — Restaurant in Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands

DEUTSCH Das Giannitsis (ΓΙΑΝΝΙΤΣΗΣ) war unsere Rettung – bereits vor unserem Flug hatten wir ein Bild von saftigem gerilltem Fleisch im Kopf, aber solches auf Korfu zu finden stellte sich dann doch als eine Herausforderung dar.

Um so glücklicher waren wir, diesen Tempel der Röstaromen zu finden – natürlich können auch die Griechen nicht jeden Tag grillen, weshalb Giannitsis auch eine der wenigen und hoch frequentierten Anlaufstellen für die Bewohner Korfus darstellt.

Hier gibt es nahezu täglich sowohl Gegrilltes vom Schwein, ganze Lämmer am Spieß und auch klassische Grillhähnchen. Alles hat MEGA gut geschmeckt und auch der hausgemachte Tsatsiki (2 Sorten, eine davon scharf) sucht seines Gleichen. Im Giannitsis wird mit Liebe uns Sachverstand gekocht und der Service ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Spätestens wenn die bodenständig angerichteten Teller auf dem Tisch kommen, vergisst man den Rest der Welt – ein großes Kompliment an das gesamte Team dieses ganz besonderen Grill-Restaurants! Ich kann das Giannitsis allen von Herzen empfehlen, die sich nach ordentlich gegrilltem Fleisch verzehren! Positiv kommt hinzu, dass der Gast hier zu angemessenen Preisen speisen kann – das ist nicht überall so auf Korfu.

ENGLISH Giannitsis (ΓΙΑΝΝΙΤΣΗΣ) was our salvation - even before our flight we had an image of juicy grilled meat in our minds, but finding it in Corfu proved to be a challenge.

We were all the happier to find this temple of roasted flavours - of course, even Greeks can't grill every day, which is why Giannitsis is also one of the few and highly frequented places to go for Corfu residents.

Here you can get both grilled pork, whole lambs on skewers and also classic grilled chicken almost every day. Everything tasted MEGA good and the homemade tzatziki (2 types, one of them spicy) is second to none. The Giannitsis cooks with love and expertise and the service is very friendly and obliging.

You forget the rest of the world at the latest when the down-to-earth plates appear on the table - a big compliment to the entire team of this very special grill restaurant!

I can heartily recommend Giannitsis to anyone who craves properly grilled meat! On a positive note, diners can dine here at reasonable prices - that's not the case everywhere in Corfu.

Ημέρα 15 Αυγούστου και ενώ θα ήξερε ότι θα υπάρχει μεγάλη κίνηση δεν υπήρχε τίποτα το απόγευμα, εκτός από αρνί σούβλας και κοτόπουλο! Ήταν λίγο στημένο το γεγονός ότι όταν ήρθε για την παραγγελία αντί να μας ρωτήσει τι θέλουμε, έλεγε ο σερβιτόρος, ο οποίος ήταν και αργός, τα πιάτα που ήθελε να σερβίρει, τα κλισέ, δηλ σαλάτα χωριάτικη, τζατζίκι, τυροκαυτερη κλπ που δεν αρέσουν όλους... Γιατί κάποιος μπορεί να είναι χορτοφάγος και η ποικιλία δεν επαρκούσε σε αυτό! Η ατμόσφαιρα ήταν πολύ αδιάφορη διότι αντί να υπάρχει μια μουσική για την γιορτή της ημέρας, είχε μόνο ποδόσφαιρο και η βαβούρα αυτού δεν έκανε ευχάριστη την παραμονή. Το κοτόπουλο σούβλας, απογοητευτικό, ανοστο, ξερό και καθόλου γευστικό. Οι πατάτες μαζί συνοδευόμενες ήταν ελάχιστες... Το αρνί σούβλας αν και ωραίο, με αρκετό λίπος και κάποια σημεία όχι τόσο νόστιμα... Αλλά δυστυχώς οι πατάτες ήταν προτηγανισμένες, πολύ λαδερες και καμένες! Η σαλάτα μέτρια διότι ήταν χωρίς λαδοξυδο και η τυροκαυτερη- τζατζίκι ήταν μέσα στα σκόρδα και ήταν μεγάλα κομμάτια και δεν είχε καλή γεύση. Είχαμε μια ελπίδα ότι θα έρθουμε και θα βρούμε παραδοσιακά πιάτα, μόνο αυτό δεν βρήκαμε... Η σχέση τιμής που ήταν γύρω στα 65 € δεν αντιπροσώπευε την ποιότητα που θα έπρεπε να δώσει. Καλό αλλά με πολλά προβλήματα και λίγες...

10/10 cannot recommend this place more. It was fully booked as they had a Greek holiday on the Friday we went, however we got told to come early and we would get a spot. They're not wrong and honestly wow. 2kg of lamb between 5 of us plus Greek salad and 2 portions of fries. Perfect amazing and perfect meat. Very tender and juicy and the lamb flavour is not...
