We saw that this little restaurant had incredible reviews and so decided to check it out (it's so close to the main road and beach area at about 1/2 mile, but feels so remote). And the reviews were right - stunning view, incredible food, and friendly staff.
This is a family-style restaurant, so the portions are enormous. We tried to order multiple dishes, but were warned they were large. A very wise heads up! But the cost was unbelievably affordable. 3 sizeable dishes, a half liter of wine, and a few bottles of water was 26 Euro. And the food is just mouth-watering. We had a tomato based baked egg dish with feta that we think might have been the best thing we are in Greece.
The one heads-up (not a negative at all, but for those who get nervous about it), the server who assisted us was so incredibly kind and attentive despite having several large families dining, but we had a few language communication issues compared to other dining establishments. Again, that is not a condemnation or negative at all - we're in Greece of course! But again, I know some people are nervous about communication. You will be fine, but please be kind and patient.
Highly, highly, highly recommend...

If you're looking for a true taste of Crete, Ta Miglakia in Chania is the place to be. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality that made us feel right at home. The atmosphere is cozy and traditional, perfectly setting the stage for an authentic dining experience.
The food is simply outstanding. We tried several traditional plates, and each one was cooked to perfection. The lamb was tender and full of flavor, the moussaka was rich and comforting, and the fresh vegetables was as good as it gets. You can tell that each dish is made with love and care, showcasing the best of Cretan cuisine.
The service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff who were happy to explain the dishes and make recommendations. The prices are very reasonable, offering great value for money, especially considering the quality and portion sizes.

Read moreI am sat here right now, feeling full and happy 🥰. We have spent a few days in the area, close to Agia Marina, and it is just WAY too touristy for my taste. Sort of nice but in no way authentic. Tonight, we set out to find this little place, only a few minutes drive 🚗 from the main road, away from all its lights and restaurants and car rental places. Those with short attention spans may stop now - this place gets six stars 🌟 on all accounts, hands down.
Getting here was a little adventurous, we took the cross-country route, including some questionable dirt tracks. Maybe it just added to our appetite 🤔 I had the calves' liver, brilliantly done on the barbecue, followed by pork steaks in a peppery 🌶 spicy sauce. Accompanied by raki. In short - if you are in the area and want the true authentic Greek food and atmosphere, this is where you have to go. Anything...
