My favourite place on Crete. The food is always delicious. The owners, Simon and Tania, are fabulous people, we feel very welcome each time we visit. Even if it is super busy they find the time to speak with their guests. Of course sometimes you have to wait longer for the food but it is totally worth it! We come here during every time we are on Crete, even if we don’t stay in Kalamaki. Highly recommend!

NIce family-run tavern and definitely best taverna in Kalamaki, familiar and genuine Greek atmosphere, very good prices together with an excellent quality of the dishes, the owners, he serves the tables and she cooks, are very nice and helpful and great cat lovers, all leftovers are given to their family of 23 cats. You cannot stay in Kalamaki without dinner in this taverna.

Best Saganaki in Kalamaki, the food is very tasty and the owner and his wife are more than friendly. We drank a few rakis with them after closing and it felt like family. I miss this guys and I definitely come again the next time.

Update 2021: Yannis has retired and only stops by to say hello. Others have taken over, but unfortunately with a dip both in quality and quantity. Food is still good, just not the "Yannis" experience anymore. Rated down to 4 stars

Old entry, valid until 2020, 5 stars: Been there 3 times, all three times were simply amazing. I cannot a bit understand the 1-star reviews. Yes, the tavern is not looking really "nice", but Yiannis is and so is his food. Never been so much stuffed and it never tasted that good when being so...

A very special place for dinner in Kalamaki, probably the best among several really good restaurants. The traditional food is of very good quality, the taste refined and tempting. „Nefeli“ means cloud and according to a German saying the dishes immediately send you up to cloud no. 7 (= a place where you feel welcome and happy). The owners Tania and Simo are a wonderful couple who do everything to spoil their guests! Looking forward to coming back...

Locals were kicked out to make table available for paying customers, was entertaining. Enjoyed dinner for 2. Food exceeded expectations. Excellent pricing. UPDATE jan 2020- i still laugh out loud while reminiscing on this most memorable experience in all of my Greek adventures. It'll probably never be as amazing 2nd time around but I'm OK with that. My next and every "next" journey to Crete will have this restaurant on my...
