Patricia's Kafenion — Restaurant in Municipality of Festos

The cafe is actually secondary to the animal sanctuary run by a Swiss couple, it's not the food or drinks you should visit for but the wonderful "animal farm" they open to visitors :) This isn't a traditional animal shelter because their animals aren't offered for adoption - they are simply taken in, taken care of and provided with a home for the rest of their lives. I only came across the place by chance as I was looking for a care near Faistos palace and probably wouldn't have stumbled upon it if it wasn't marked as a cafe on google maps. Definitely worth a stop if you're nearby - wind down after a trip, pet the animals and chat with the owners - who don't even advertise the place, they do all the hard work on their own and just for...

Wir haben Patricia und ihren Mann mit unserer Tochter besucht und es war seinen Weg mehr als wert. Wir trafen dort 2 so wundervolle Menschen, die ihr Leben ganz den Tieren widmen. Die meisten Tieren haben so furchtbare Schicksale hinter sich und finden nun bei den beiden ein neues, lebenswertes Leben und Zuhause. Wir sind überwältigt von so viel Gastfreundlichkeit und den beeindruckenden Geschichten, die die beiden erzählen können. Alles ist völlig abseits des Massentourismus in privatem Ambiente. Für uns der schönste Ausflug von allen. Authentisch, liebenswert und für Tierliebhaber ein absolutes Abenteuer. Patricia und ihr Mann lassen vollen Einblick in ihr alltägliches Leben mit den Tieren und wir durften bei vielen Fütterungen helfen. Die Tiere sind unglaublich lieb und dankbar und (fast) jedes darf gestreichelt werden und wird von den vielen Hunden, Katzen, den 3 Eseln den Ziegen, Schafen uvm gern angenommen. Neben der Farm bieten die beiden leckere Getränke und das absolut beste Olivenöl, welches aus eigenerer Ernte stammt. Da Patricia den Zutritt zur Farm kostenlos gewährt, ist es das Mindeste, eine kleine Spende dazulassen.

Incredible place. The work Patricia and the team do is truly incredible. We actually had the best freddo coffee of the holiday so far. To meet the animals and learn about their stories is sad, but also heartwarming knowing they are in the best place possible. We got some homemade oil to take away which is amazing. And the knitted socks will be welcome...
