The Secret Garden — Restaurant in Municipality of Festos

The place is a hidden gem, if you are nearby, you should definitely try it!!

We were there for dinner, after the beach. It is located by the main road, off Komos beach, near Matala. The whole garden gives a very warm and relaxed atmosphere.

The food was of EXCEPTIONAL taste, with creative greek cuisine, very elevated especially compared to the "tourist-orientated" menus you will find in the area. We had a salad, a very big steak, and a great tartar, all of them very flavorful and perfectly excecuted. We also tried the wine list (those served by the glass), and although the list is not very big in available selections, all of the wines had "character" and they combined well with the food (Try "Fragkospito", white or red!!).

Unfortunately, we were so full, there was no room for dessert, but judging from what we tried, I'm sure it would be worth tasting. The staff was also very warm and helpful (we were served by Konstantinos) and made our dinner one of the best in the island during our vacations.

The restaurant, a mere 2 km from Matala, is an outstanding eatery with exquisite cuisine. Very attentive service in a unique atmosphere with every table being different in size, shape and design. We started out with the "Trilogy" comprised of black garlic tsatsiki, smoked eggplant dip and a spice cheese dip, with roasted bread. Our mains were "Ravioli" - definitely not from the supermarket. Spinach ravioli stuffed with cheese made from goat and sheep milk in a creamy sauce with smoked pancetta. And "Shrimp Linguini" - four good sized shrimp (cooked to the point) with outstanding linguini prepared al dente in a sauce with a seafood bisque and herbs. Both dishes could not have tasted any better. Even the complimentary "Thank You" by the host comprising of Ouzo came in a special little bottle with two unusual glasses complemented by very tasty pieces of watermelon. We'll be...

We ate here twice. It is the best restaurant in the area of Matala and suburbs! Nice variety of starters, salads, pasta, pizza and main courses with meat and one or two veggie options. Not the usual Cretan taverna or restaurant. Nice environment, true magical combination of ingredients results in a sensational dinner. Pizza is the real Italian thing, you should try it! The meat main courses are absolutely wonderful in terms of taste! The prices are very reasonable for the quality you get on your table. The only flaw is the service. When the place is overfilled, the personnel is getting confused easily. It seems that the coordination of the tasks for each person is not so well assigned. I would give an 85% out of 100, just for the service that needs improvement. All in all it is a definitely...
