Such an underwhelming experience, unfortunately. The place is super-hyped, very difficult to get a table for dinner, so expectations were high, since it also belongs to the Drakoulis group. We went for a dinner, 3 people, Sunday night, with a fully booked restaurant, sat near the bar/entrance. We had cocktails, a bottle of wine, a salad, a small pizza margherita, 2 different pasta dishes (caccio e pepe and ragu), a sole meniere and a tiramisu. I will take the time to write a thorough review to explain to any future customers and owners why such a low rating, with the hope to warn customers and also help owners steer the food (which is the main reason for the rating) towards a very different direction.
Positives: Atmosphere is great, both externally and internally well decorated, high ceilings, and a sense of luxury, adding to the high expectations. The staff was friendly and efficient, even on a busy night. There was a good selection of cocktails with specialties that are innovative and quite tasty. The salad was quite refreshing and tasty.
To note: Small selection of pizzas (3)/pastas(4+1 rissotto), more emphasis is given on main courses.
Negatives: On top of the small selection of pizzas/pastas, the dishes are completely unimaginative. Two of the pastas are quite similar (50% of the selection available! - pasta bolognese and pasta ragu), and all quite heavy-sounding. The dishes are extravagantly described ('the best selection of Italian ingredients', 'authentic' tiramisu, etc) and certainly do not deliver, in fact could be described as the complete opposite. Caccio e pepe was just pepe - only tasting of black pepper. We did finish this dish as we hadn't eaten all day, but it was tough and we were left with a burning mouth. Linguine Al ragu - this dish was simply put bad, it was not ragu as the meat was served whole, but was soft enough to pull apart by fork. The meat and sauce were completely tasteless, we did not manage to finish this dish. The 'Dover sole' as was described was a disaster - the fish itself was clearly frozen (not described as such on the menu), which you could tell by how dry it was, and in fact smelt off, we had one bite and left it on the edge of the table as the smell was too strong to even have on the table. The sauce was most definitely not meniere, too strong and thick with use of unorthodox ingredients (mustard, dill) but even this did not manage to mask the smell and taste of the fish being off. This fish cost 72€. The 'authentic' tiramisu was not authentic and not a tiramisu at all. If it was described properly, it would not have been such an awful dish, but it was a most underwhelming end to a most underwhelming dinner. Even though we did not finish the majority of our food, and in fact the fish especially was almost left untouched, we were never asked if something was wrong.
We spent 242€ for the above dinner and were left feeling entirely cheated and disappointed, which is very rare for us as we are foodies who enjoy diverse cuisines.
We will most definitely not visit again unless the menu and kitchen is entirely redesigned, aiming for the high quality that the owners' name promises, restaurant's decor inspires, prices demands, and...
Read moreTo begin with and to be fair, the food was actually good and tasty! Then comes the staff… I didn’t expect to come across to such a rude staff at that kind of place (high end restaurant)!
Firstly when we entered the restaurant they were staring at us like we were aliens, then we sat at the table and all night they were watching and it seemed like they were chitchatting about us!
Then a waitress came to take our order and she offered to one of us to take a side dish (potato purè) with her meal, but guess what.. it never came! And when we asked for it she told us that she didn’t hear about it , like are you kidding me you were the one who offered us the side dish, there’s no way you did not hear us!
Same happened with the dessert, she asked us if we need any desserts and we told her to bring the menu to select and the menu never came!
Finally we wanted to pay and leave, and the POS machine wasn’t charged and they told us to sit and wait five more minutes for it to work, without offering us something while we were waiting for their mistake!
Anyways really disappointed, we paid a good amount of money just to be treated like trash!
The place tho was nice, decoration was a vibe but everything was ruined by the non friendly, judgy and...
Read moreWe had a reservation for two at 22:15. We arrived at 22:05 and were sitted at the bar until our table was ready. The table got ready at 22:35. We ordered within 10 minutes (white asparagus, burrata, ossobuco, risotto and a bottle of Rose wine. After 30 minutes we haven’t got anything and had to ask to bring at least the wine. Whilst we got the wine after 5 mins one of the waiters “dropped” the plate with the asparagus on the table. I asked for some bread and had to ask another two times for it to finally arrive 20 minutes later. Then someone came and asked to change our plates for the mains to arrive without having had the burrata yet. Apparently there was no point for the burrata as it was already almost 1,5 hours after are arrival and we cancelled it. I had to request for the bottle of wine to be left on our table since no one was noticing that our glasses were empty to refill them. At a positive notice although the asparagus were tasteless, the risotto and the ossobuco were really tasty. I made a comment to the head waiter about our service being the least awful all night and “in return” he brought a dessert - caramel tart - which was tasty on the house. Although the atmosphere was nice I will never go again and I do not recommend...
