Sanchez Athens — Restaurant in Municipality of Filothei - Psychiko

Dirty Sanchez: where to start. After deciding to try this restaurant, we were shocked at how bright it was indoors. The colorful lights, particularly the black light was blinding and is harmful for your eyes. Following, the music (both in the indoor and outdoor space) was very loud, as if they wanted to create a club environment instead of a civil restaurant.

The service was average and the food was not good. The portion sizes were tiny for the price. The price in general was very expensive for average food comparative to other great Mexican restaurants in Athens like Picasso in Chalandri. It was such a shock to see that the nachos platter was just a bowl of extremely hard and difficult to chew nachos, without cheese, peppers or any additions. The guacamole was very bland, the chicken tacos were just two small soft shell tacos (Picasso offers more per serving with more ingredients) and the quesadilla with chicken was flavorless and small. The wine per glass was filled up to the minimum amount to be considered a glass, compared to other restaurants that fill it halfway and even more.

Did not enjoy the suffocating atmosphere, no fans, no AC and no open windows during hot summer nights. Someone also started smoking and despite it being considered an “outdoor space” if there is no aeration and the entire space is covered in windows and a ceiling, it is still considered indoors.

Will not be coming back and cannot recommend this overpriced restaurant/club to anyone who wants decent food for reasonable prices. I don’t think I have to mention that this is in no way authentic...

Reason why the overall rating is lower than it should be is because of the following factors.

1.Trying to book a table there is .... Quite difficult.

2.We requested some of the food to be wrapped up to take with us, part of 1 dish was thrown away by accident. In my opinion instead of replacing the dish, which they informed us quite late if I may add, we had to negotiate of what would happen next....

3.We were charged of the extra tortillas that did not make their way into the 2nd dish we had not finished.

4.Instead of offering us at least a complimentary dessert (which cost less than the "thrown dish") 2 mere shots of frozen margarita appeared as an apology.

5.Kinda overpriced.... For 2 ppl - 2 appetizers/2 main courses & 3...

Atmosphere is great but food is below mediocre. Also I experienced food poisoning from their RAW chicken tacos. I didn’t realize it at the time as I thought they were just made that way - but I should of know from the soft chewy texture.

Service was okay - they said they were fully reserved but looked like no one was there.

The only thing that shine was the one waiter.
