Taverna Agios Nikolaos — Restaurant in Municipality of Folegandros

Despite negative comments that we heard from locals, we decided to give a chance to the place due to its perfect location. However, everyone was proven correct. The food is of very low quality, unexpectedly expensive (The fresh fish costs even 20-30% more than the agkali beach) and with questionable hygiene. For us, the tip of the iceberg was that we found a cooked fly in our food. We politely showed this to our waitress and then she claimed it is intestine from the shrimps (guess what intestines have wings!). Despite this behavior, we kept a polite tone and did not request any compensation. Extremely poor service and organisation. 1.5 hours to wait for a child’s meal, despite regular questions - it was a busy day, but not that busy and several others seemed to be served the same quite simple order in advance. Maybe our server forgot to properly put our order in and wouldn’t own up? And then another server (not our original one, who just seemed flustered and confused) got aggressive when questioned about the delay. In the end, we had to leave without the food as the boat/bus/ferry connection called. Food is fine, atmosphere is great unless you are anxious with a child that is being made to wait for so long.

Never usually write reviews like this but we’ve just had some of the worst food we’ve ever eaten here. It’s such a shame because the location is absolutely amazing but the food was unfortunately inedible. My partners chicken was completely raw inside & extremely bad quality. When we politely showed the waiter his response was do you want it cooking for longer. We said we didn't want the meal at all, he shrugged and walked away. Despite this rude behaviour we were polite and asked for the bill. He would not remove it from the bill & didn’t even apologise. Terrible service and even worse food do...
