Friendly welcome, although this unfortunately did not continue through out the service. we were a group of five, out for a special meal and as one of the best restaurants in the area, expectations were high. The service was poor from the start, after one guest was given the wine to try, the bottle was placed back in the ice bucket and the remaining guests left to pour their first glass of wine. We ordered two salads to start, one a summer salad and the other a Salmon salad. Both salads were expensive in comparison to other restaurants and had very few ingredients and mostly lettuce. Both salads were extremely salty. For mains, we ordered tuna, seafood spaghetti and stuffed chicken. The stuffed chicken was very good, the seafood spaghetti and tuna were covered in salt to the point that one of our party could not eat their meal. The seafood spagetti was also served in what tasted like a chip shopcurry sauce. An expensive and disappointing meal. We did advise the owners that the meal was poor for the money, but they seemed disinterested. Would leave positive steps to improve future service if we thought the owners would take this onboard, but I feel I would be...
Read moreA visit to Thrimpi's fresh-white terrace makes an impression. While enjoying the panoramic view and sunset, we tasted the freshly baked sourdough bread and homemade thrimpi-butter.
Thrimpi gives extraordinary attention to detail and authenticity. The young chef is very talented and sets the culinary bar very high. The result is a true delight for the taste buds.
He and his team know how to create gems from local products and spices. Our starters were a delicious Thrimpi salad, salty fishes in oil, and 'The Mushrooms' spiced and stuffed with cheese accompanied bij the chef's own creation: mushroom bread. Our dinner continued with deliciously prepared goatmeat with fêta cream, and a Basil Pasta! Just Heavenly!
At Thrimpi, you feel welcome. The table service is stylish. Not only do you enjoy a meal and a perfect glass of wine, but you also feel the heart of Kalymnos. Thrimpi stand for a sophisticated...
Read moreWe went on a Tuesday evening, it was not busy at all. The waiter was a lovely guy, I know it’s easy to be attentive when there aren’t many in but he didn’t hover which can get annoying.
We had two starters beef carpaccio and a fish starter, both were amazing! The salad and dressing with the carpaccio partnered very well. For mains we had lamb shank and “granny’s spaghetti” which were very generous portions. The lamb fell off the bone and was very good with the couscous that it came with. Granny’s spaghetti could have fed 3 people!
The wine selection was also great, we had a Chardonnay which was delicious and wish we could have had more but we’d already had cocktails before and didn’t want to get too drunk.
We got given free dessert of yogurt and apricot jam, and watermelon which was a nice gesture. And also a free digestif at the end.
All for under €100 for two...
