Mixed experience.

Beach Bar next door had an event on and was full so we tried the Grammeno bar and restaurant, which is attached to a camping site. We weren't campers, we were only using the restaurant.

First off, service could do with improvement. We were told drinks were self service and that the waiter would come over for food orders, except... he didn't. We then went to the bar to grab menus and then order food (and 1.5L bottles of water for the tables).

Food arrived and was decent. Greek salad was nice, and the Pork Gyros portion (plate) was good. Individual plates of chips were undercooked and a few minutes more frying would have been perfect.

It seemed like the staff don't talk to each other, as the bottles of water we ordered with the food weren't brought to us and when queried staff didn't know who was bringing what. (I suppose the confusion could have been because drinks are self service?) In any case water didn't arrive until AFTER we finished most of the food.

Pizza was the last thing to arrive, it took forever to cook, which I assume was because it was put in the oven last, or late?

Atsmosphere was nice, except there was a wedding happening just over the wall (congratulations German newlyweds!) who played 'the one that I want' from Grease 3 times in a row at full blast for their first dance. So I mark atmosphere down, but that's not the venues fault.

Finally, toilets are far away from the restaurant. They are part of the camp site (understandably to service them) but maybe extra toilets could be provided closer to the bar/restaurant?

The beach...

We stayed at the attached campsite for three weeks in May /June 2017, and ate at the beach bar/ restaurant on several occasions.

Most of the meals we ate were from the daily list of offerings, and these were clearly freshly prepared, as you would expect, and made from good quality ingredients.

Amongst some of the things we enjoyed, I can particularly recommend: the stuffed zucchini flowers, the best briam I have ever tasted, stuffed peppers and tomatoes and the baked lamb dishes. The mizithra cheese we had on one salad, was locally produced and a cut above mizithra we have had elsewhere- delicious. The chips are pretty good too! The cooking was excellent and fresh.

They sell bottled or draft Greek beer and wine by the carafe or in bottles from a local winery.

Although we did not partake, they also serve a variety of breakfast choices.

Fresh orange juice is available along with other juice in cartons as well as soft drinks.

I would also like to mention the staff who were attentive and friendly.

The ambience is very pleasant right on the beach with plenty of shade and wind protection when...

Update - I reviewed this bar and restaurant just over a year ago, and on our six week visit, spanning May and June this year, we ate there on many more occasions.

We stuck largely to items on the list of daily offerings. We were never disappointed - they were every bit as good as last year.

But, I must mention that this restaurant has converted me to eating Okra ( ladies fingers / bamies in Greek). You can't even buy them where we live in the UK! But I ate them whenever they were available. Delicious. Vlita ( mountain greens)is another favourite of mine. As well as all the old favourites in my previous review. See photos.

My husband is the meat eater and enjoyed a variety of braised dishes.

It is a very nice place to sit in the shade and while away the hotter part of the day or the evening.

Just wander in off the beach.

I must also mention the indefatigable and charming Demetris as well as his hard working staff. They work long hours and serve everything with a smile. Nothing is too much trouble, even providing water...
