Our trip to Elofinisi was our first day in Crete. This Greek tavern, which is the restaurant of Elafonisi Resort, run by the Kalomirakis family, satisfied us completely in terms of food. As we were impatient to try Cretan dishes, which are much tastier than in mainland Greece, we ordered quite a few dishes accompanied by Ouzo.
The atmosphere and view at sunset was very nice. There was no problem, except that the young waiter who took care of us was unprofessional and rude when taking orders. Another waiter brought our meals and he took care of us for the rest of the evening. Appetizers like Tzatziki, Horiatiki and Dolmadakia, as well as main courses such as Moussaka, Kalamari and Kebab were great. Their prices were quite normal compared to the restaurants we tried later in Crete. If you're thinking of dining in Elafonisi, it's definitely a restaurant I...
Read moreWe recently had one of the best meals since arriving in Greece at a charming, authentic Greek restaurant near Elafonisi Beach. The experience was nothing short of spectacular, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
We started with the fried feta with honey and sesame, which was an absolute delight. The feta was perfectly crisp on the outside and wonderfully creamy inside, while the honey and sesame added a beautiful balance of sweetness and nuttiness.
For our main course, we shared the local fish fagri, which was simply amazing and more than enough for two people and fried calamari. The fish was fresh, perfectly cooked, and seasoned to perfection, bringing out its delicate flavors.
If you’re near Elafonisi Beach, make sure to visit this restaurant for an authentic taste of Greek cuisine. It’s a culinary experience you won’t...
Read moreThis is a great tavern and highly recommended. If you walked up from the beach, there will be one on the right but it is the next one further up the road. It’s part of the Kalomirakis resort hotel.
Probably one of the best restaurants I had for Cretan cuisine. They also serve one of my favourite Assyrtiko from Estate Argyros, a beautiful Santorini wine. Highly recommend!!!
I had the zucchini balls as starter! Oh my God, it is so soft and juicy! A must try!!!
I then had their mussels saganaki and shrimps saganaki. The mussels are far and juicy and shrimps fresh and tasty!
Don’t expect service though as they could get busy and it is a tavern after all. But the waiter is really nice to me and kept offering me fruits and ice creams.
Food 9/10, service 7/10, ambience 7/10, value for money...
