Σοφία Ταβέρνα — Restaurant in Municipality of Karpathos

This is not my first visit of this beautiful island, so I can say with certainty, that the wonderful, heavenly blue Kyra Panagia beach wouldn't be what it is, without Sofia's Tavern, where Theo and Maria preparing and serving the best, home-made, typical Greek food for me on the island!!! Take your time, come hungry and trust their suggestions. Early in the morning every day, Theo fishing by himself, while Maria already preparing and baking fresh bread for her guests. Basically, when you visit their tavern, you are not their guest, they treat you like a friend, who came to visit them in their home. Pleasant atmosphere, smiling hosts, excellent food and normal prices. Simply, home made But the best food on Karpathos! You don't believe me? Try it and enjoy this symphony of flavors... First and foremost, Maria and Theo, the keepers of this small and lovely taverna, are very kind people and super welcoming hosts paying special attention to each individual guest group. Theo even invited our boys to a nightly calamari fishing round that they will never forget. The food is made locally in their kitchen and tastes naturally and indescribably good. To-die-for Karpathian specialties include (but are not limited to) karpathian shrimps, makarounes (local pasta), stuffed zucchini flowers, lamb stew and loukoumades. We enjoyed the location with the porch on the main road, and we also liked that there is no off-the-rack background music as is the case at the other restaurant on the beach. I definitively recommend this gem to everybody who cherish authentic Karpathian food and a friendly interaction...

Authentic Greek cuisine! Not a lot more to say! I’d say easily a must when you are enjoying the beach in Kyra Panagia 🏝️Especially when it comes to other restaurants that don’t even represent Greece, there a lot of tourist traps! Not this! This is the real deal!

Generous amounts and very nice service 😇 One of the better ones in Karpathos 😎 Don’t miss out the grilled pork and the Greek salad is a must!

Been here twice now! Met with the chef himself! What a great guy! Really bound to nature and a passion for fishing and making traditional homemade dishes with outstanding authenticity! Be sure to see pictures! I might call this the best restaurant...
