I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Sardeles BBQ in Pigadia Karpathos, and I must say it was a major letdown. From the minuscule portion sizes to the lackluster drinks, this restaurant failed to impress on multiple levels. Allow me to elaborate on my disappointing visit.
First and foremost, the order was pork chops (3 small) with fries, and I was astounded by the portion size of the meat. It was incredibly small, barely enough to satisfy a child's appetite, let alone an adult's. The imbalance between the portion of meat and the overwhelming amount of fries was downright perplexing. It seemed as though the restaurant was trying to compensate for the lack of substance with an abundance of filler. It left me feeling unsatisfied and cheated, especially considering the high prices they charged for such meager servings.
To accompany the meal, I decided to try the strawberry daiquiri. However, what I received was nothing more than a disappointment in a glass. The daiquiri was watery and lacked any discernible flavor. It tasted as though someone had merely diluted strawberry syrup with plain water.
Speaking of prices, let's address the elephant in the room. Sardeles BBQ charges exorbitant prices for the subpar experience they offer. Considering the meager portion sizes, the lack of flavor, and the overall disappointment, it's safe to say that their prices are completely unjustified. Customers should expect a reasonable value for their money, but unfortunately, Sardeles BBQ falls short in this regard.
In summary, I cannot in good conscience recommend Sardeles BBQ in Pigadia Karpathos. The pork chops with fries was a laughable portion, the strawberry daiquiri was an unimpressive concoction lacking any taste, and the prices were simply outrageous for the quality of food and service provided. Read moreUnfortunately this place missed the mark with almost every aspect of what people go out to eat for. The beach is close and that's the only nice thing about it. We ordered a mocktail and lemonades, all were entirely too sweet. For appetizers we ordered the fries and tzatziki. For meals we ordered the fried calamari, California chicken sandwich with side Greek salad, and a margherita pizza. The quality of the food was poor, from the start to the end of our meal. The biggest issue we had was the calamari. It had an awful smell and the taste was just as bad, along with it being very tough and overcooked. We asked that the calamari be taken from the bill because something was wrong with it, they refused! A woman came over and didn't even introduce herself. She began asking us what was wrong with the calamari. She didn't want to hear what we thought and would've rather argued than taken the constructive criticism. There are too many restaurants serving quality food and service on Karpathos for Sardeles to be worth going to. To the manager: you should be striving to be better! To potential costumers: If you're looking for an authentic Kárpathos experience, avoid this place. Everything is imported, nothing is fresh and the server will say everything's delicious no matter what. They have no care for the customer and don't care what you eat as long as you...
Read moreThis is perhaps a lower grade than I would have given them a few days ago, before we found a family-tavern a bit down the street, but in comparison this is where it's at. So: In comparison, Sardeles has quite expensive sunbeds (15€) and food, and we tried a few different food options the days we spent there. The food is okay, but didn't knock our socks off or anything, and the salads came in quite small portions. The service is fine, they are nice, but not especially "warm" or welcoming. Maybe they could incorporate some kind of sign to put out if you wish to order something to the sunbeds, and keep menus there. They would probably sell more if they did, I know we waited for quite some time before catching the attention of the staff sometimes. The beach in this area is VERY rocky, so wear water shoes or you can cut your feet pretty bad. Further down, away from Sardeles and the city, the beach actually does get better. Sardeles is a big place, and therefore has many guests, so you have less underwater-life to explore if you like snorkeling since the water is more disturbed. All in all: It was okay. We spent a few nice days there. But we are REALLY happy with the second place we found that has...
