I just had one of the best meal experiences I’ve ever had in my life. It is a small taverna restaurant that is on the side of the road on the way to/from elafonisi beach. The host and hostess were incredibly nice, they made this amazing eggplant dish that tasted like heaven on a plate. The hostess said that it was her recipe and that she helped make it, along with the moussaka which was amazing. Everyone could not stop raving about how tender and juicy all of the meat was, and the french fries were crisp and well seasoned as well, some of the best we have had in greece! They also gave soft and warm pita with “pita’s best friend” tzatziki sauce and olive oil, which I could not stop eating. The host and hostess did not stop smiling at all, were extremely courteous and kind when talking to us. The view was amazing, we could see the mountain region of crete right next to us. There were goats across the street and an extremely cute cat that joined us for our meal and allowed us to pet it. When the meal was over, the host and hostess said that they were going to get “the good stuff” for us, which was an amazing spread of greek yogurt and sweet carrots, made by the mom of the hostess, and raki - a traditional cretan alcohol, which they gave to us in a cinammon form as well. The hostess agreed to take a shot with us as well, capping off an...
Read moreWe’re so happy we found this gem on the drive to Elafonissi! The owner, lovely Georgia makes amazing home cooked food with so much love and detail, you can tell everything she has made has been practised to perfection and she is passionate and proud of her food, and she is a ray of sunshine! We normally never order moussaka but we tried Georgias and was amazing with perfect creamy bechamel, perfectly fried potatoes and aubergines with perfectly seasoned pork mince. Hands down the best we’ve eaten (and we’re greek) was made with all the love of a Greek mama not just someone who wants to please tourists. Also absolutely must try the stuffed courgettes flowers and the aubergines stuffed with cheese, they are fried to perfection - so light with no oilyness and the perfect tangy cheese filling! We can also recommend the dolmadakia which were lovely and aromatic, Georgia also makes her own cinnamon infused raki which she gives for free at the end of the meal alongside her homemade carrot spoon sweet with yoghurt- honestly both were out of this world ! We came and ate here twice (the second time making a detour on our route to eat here!), we’re so happy we made the stop, this place deserves the reviews it has! Also the restaurant has a lovely view of the mountains :) Lots of love Amalia and Michalis hopefully see...
Read moreWe we have visited the Cave of Agia Sofia. On the way back we have found this place. The Atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. There was the Greek traditional music being played in the background. We have ordered eggplants as an appetizer . It was really tasty cooked in breadcrumbs. 😋 As a main course we have ordered lamb chops with fries and Greek salad. We didn’t wait much except that eggplants and meat were served almost at the same time. Lamb was tasty and fresh. Fries were not that good, a bit burnt and we prefer bigger slices. Salad was with fresh veggies and good quality feta cheese. Lamb was that tasty that we have forgotten to take photos of those. At the end we were offered a little dessert made of Greek yogurt and sweet carrots, which was quite unusual to see and tasty. We were also offered two types of Raki, standard and cinamon one. The last one was really tasty. We were even thinking to buy one, but we were offered it as a gift. The bill was relatively inexpensive. All in all, we recommend this place and wish to return to try other...
