Let me start by saying I've been in Crete for 2 weeks now, and this was by far the worst cretein food i have had. The service was not great like some of the other reviews say. My wife is from Crete and she had a hard time with the food if thats not enough right there. Saganaki was under cooked and when we asked the server if she could have it proped back into the fryer she refused. It was rubbery and hard to eat in that state. So rubbery that afterwards, i got a call from good year tire and they want the recipe. My wife's food was under cooked and mine was over cooked to the poit that the bone from the goat was splintering into tiny fragments that not only got stuck, but almost destroyed my teeth. I always feel ashamed if i waste food. Not to mention that every thing was so oily i thought the united states were going to invade my plate. Even if i order to much food i try and either man up and finish it or take it home with me to eat later. We both ate maybe half of what we ordered and left it it was that terrible and did not feel bad in the process. There are so many amazing restaurants in Crete that are well worth the experience and offer you some of the best food of your life . I would rather eat at a jack in the box in America willing knowing that id probably get diarrhea for three days afterwards. Save your money and time and go...
Read moreWe were on an excursion to Elafonisi beach and on the way back to Chania, we stopped at Kamáres. Absolutely delicious authentic Cretan food. Beautiful taverna with stunning views. Staff was friendly and the owners are very lovely people! A must stop if you are visiting the village of Elos. Highly recommend! I am vegetarian and ordered the dolmades, and stuffed tomatoes, as well as Dakos. DELICIOUS! My husband ordered the goat with potatoes and chestnuts and said it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Just fantastic! The facilities were extremely clean as well. Many choices of places to sit with different views....
Read moreBeautiful small town in Elos. We visited this restaurant after we went to Elafonissi beach I had the Boureki which is a vegetarian dish with sliced potatoes, courgettes and local cheese. My partner had the goat with potatoes and chestnuts. It was so tender and delicious, fell off the bone, that I wish I had also had it. Service was excellent 👌 We were given fruit and of course raki to finish. The price was so good. You can buy local honey and cold pressed olive oil which is sourced from this small village. All in all it was a good end to an...
