Extremely Disappointing – Would Not Recommend

Our experience at Thyme Restaurant on Kos was nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. While some parts of the food were passable, the overall experience left a lot to be desired – especially when it came to service and professionalism.

Let’s start with the food. The steak was absolutely terrible – chewy, poorly prepared, and clearly cut the wrong way, making it nearly impossible to enjoy. It felt like no care was taken in its preparation. The rest of the meal was just okay, but even that came out lukewarm at best, which made it hard to appreciate. When you go to a place expecting quality, “okay” and “cold” just don’t cut it.

However, what truly ruined the evening was the service. Despite only having about three tables per waiter, the staff was incredibly slow and inattentive. We had to wait around 20–30 minutes between the starter and the main course – and again, another 20–30 minutes just for someone to clear our empty plates. It was as if the staff forgot about our table entirely.

We politely asked for a blanket because the wind was getting chilly – something that should be a simple and quick request. It took three separate attempts and a frustrating amount of time before we finally received one.

Another baffling detail: water. You weren’t allowed to pour it yourself. Yet no one came over to do it for us, unless we actually poured it ourselves – only then did someone appear, apparently to tell us off. It felt more like we were being monitored than served.

The entire experience felt disorganized, slow, and unfriendly. For a place that tries to present itself as high-end or refined, the lack of basic service and attention to detail is unacceptable. We left disappointed, cold, and still hungry.

There are far better places to eat on the island – this is one we’ll be avoiding...

Our recent visit to Thyme restaurant was an exceptional experience from the moment we stepped in. The staff greeted us and provided us with great hospitality from start to finish. The location is truly amazing and the owners have achieved to create an atmosphere that showcases both the local architecture and natural environment. All this set the tone for a great dining experience.

The menu options available, definetely show the thought that has gone into creating it. We chose a few dishes from the main menu and also some from the day's menu. Each and every dish was amazing!! We had a combination of seafood and meat dishes and the flavours complimented each other perfectly! I would say our highlight was the baby pork with its crispy skin and perfect perfect perfect cooking. I could also not get enough of the beef carpaccio.

Beyond the incredible food, the restaurant also just opened a stunning pool bar with a breathtaking view, where we indulged in a refreshing Spritz and desserts after our dinner.

Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Thyme restaurant to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience on the island, and can't wait to visit...

Amazing food in a great atmosphere! If you are in Kos and looking forward for a real local fine-dining restaurant, THYME is the place to go! We were eating there on July with my wife and my friends. Oh my god, they can easily get a Michelin star! The ambiance is awesome with pool and sea views. There is also an open fireplace to sit and have a drink close to the pool. When it comes to the food, it very refined and gastronomic. All ingredients are best quality and meals very tasty. I especially loved the aubergine starter and the seabass. You should also definitely try the baklava as dessert, at the end of a lovely dinner…. We also tried excellent local white wine from Kos! I strongly recommend this restaurant for real gastronomic...
