It breaks my heart to post this negative review. We were so looking forward to eating here - every other review we read was five stars, with appetising pictures to back them up. In fact, we had written our visit into the plan for day. After visiting the temple of Poseidon and drying off from a cold swim, we popped by with grumbling tummies. Context laid, I hope our experience was a one off. After all, it was an off-season visit and it looked very much like a slow day. In fact, there was just one server and one cook working that day. Plenty of stray cats meandering between the ten legs of our party of five though. Now, the food. First out was the clearly homemade, delicious Tzatziki. Drizzled with olive oil and garnished with an olive it was great. The fries came next and were unspectacular (they're fries after all). But because the portion sizes of every other dish was so small, the fries saved us (even though we went on a mission to find dessert straight after). Next out, was the 'fresh' grilled octupus. Fresh, it was not. Rubbery, yes. I stop short of using rigor mortis in my description, but such was the disappointment. It lacked flavour and, as if to add insult to injury, it seemed to be missing a tentacle or two. Next, the fried crayfish which lacked all flavour and reminded me of the processed fish sticks I ate as a child (although those tasted so much better). Honourable mentions for the fried calamari and the fried feta and a honey balls. They were at least palatable. Not a good experience for us, I'm afraid. But, I'm sure, a one off experience at that. If you're here in the Summer season, I've no doubt the food will be good. So, to go, or not to go? I leave it up to you.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Theodore & Helen, a hidden gem of a Greek restaurant tucked away from the coast. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the staff who promptly seated us and offered fresh linen tablecloths, setting the stage for an exquisite dining experience. The restaurant itself is beautifully presented, and the extensive menu of ouzo immediately caught our attention. After careful consideration, we chose several dishes, and I must say, every bite was a delight. The flavors were deep and rich, leaving us thoroughly impressed. Nothing we ordered lacked flavor or quality. As if the exceptional meal wasn't enough, the thoughtful touches continued. Warm towel cloths were provided after our meal, allowing us to freshen up, and we were pleasantly surprised when we were served complimentary sweets along with Granada lemonade sorbet slushes. In summary, Theodore & Helen exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of delicious food, welcoming service, and the charming ambiance made for an unforgettable dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a taste of Greece and a memorable evening out.

This is an excellent choice of seafood taverna in the area. The service is excellent, the staff very attentive, the portions are on the large side and certainly value for money and way above your average seafood taverna. There is a great choice of standard taverna dishes along with a nice selection of more gourmet-style dishes (Νέα Πιάτα) to cater for most tastes and a nice selection of ouzo. For sure you must try the steamed mussels in wine and garlic, the fresh crab salad, the green collards (αλμυρά). Even though there is room for improvement on the gourmet side of the menu, this is a great must-try taverna in the quaint village of Legrena. It’s a short walk from the beach, and for those requiring wheelchair access there is also the “child” taverna run by the same folks which is located nearby. Big plus for me: the fact that your table is covered in a nice cotton tablecloth, and the steamed cotton towels for after you’re done with your meal. Important note: that this place follows all covid-related regulations to the letter and is a non-smoking taverna.

Excellent food but poor service.

We have been here on a Saturday night in July, the waiter welcomed us asking if we booked, almost blaming us because we didn't, then he offered a table in the hot inside (πάμε μέσα με air condition) as the most comfortable ones in the balcony where booked.. First of all when a table is booked there's usually a placeholder and a number so customers can see it themselves and figure out, second if I come to your place asking where is possible to sit, is up to you to decide without any other comment or justification, then I noticed that two tables where still free when we left, so they should have give us the possibility to sit outside .. Normally the priority should be given to the ones who arrived first, but here it looks that they select with their own criteria the costomers who would spend more or deserves a better treatment. I suppose the place might work better in winter with less crowd, but in hot summer when lots of people are in, the personnel is inadequate and badly managed and any personal interaction with them is difficult.. Also when is time to pay, as the cashier's desk is missing there's to stop the right waiter otherwise they will eventually forget..

Food is much better than an average tavern, they offer sorbetto and a warm towel to clean your hands, things that you don't find everywhere and would appreciate more with...

I have been a long time customer at "Theodoros & Eleni" and rank it upon my favorites! This month, I have already dined here twice. Unfortunately though yesterday's whole experience was not the norm and was disappointing. The service overall was a bit confusing, I have experienced their service being excellent other times. Food was randomly brought to the table, resulting to everyone eating at different times and one dish was brought late. The grilled octopus was very chewy (didn't eat it). The fried crayfish bites were just a bit undercooked. The tomatoes in the Greek salad didn't taste fresh (didn't eat it). The boiled tamarix had two shades of green which we usually see in two different boil times. !!! The worst was when my son found a fried wasp in his fried fish dish (note: he is allergic to them) !!!!! We were offered the choice of a new order but we did not feel like eating any more. When pointing it out to the waitor I was polite and did not make a fuss about it, understanding that things happen and you can't control everything but when serving food and people consuming it in trust, there is a responsibility. In our case there could have been a health threat should he had eaten the wasp!!!!

Now, is it still my favorite place? Probably not any more. Will I go back?...
