I've been hesitant to write a review of the place, even though I've been the one that originally created the maps entry and wanted to give it time before reviewing, and also visiting three or four times before doing so.
First the good points: As far as ambience is concerned, it's the best in the area, competing directly with some of the fancier establishments in Attica or even islands such as Myconos and Santorini. I also appreciate the fact that reservations are required, it keeps a certain clientele level, to which the prices also contribute. The cocktail list is also
However, there are certain points that annoy, and are easy to be fixed to improve the experience:
The food: I know they hired a celebrity chef to overview the menu, but the exact same plates I've seen in other restaurants where he designed the menus.
Moreover, the food is mediocre. I liked some of the appetisers offered, but salads are a gamble to get fresh vegetables. Additionally, I ordered once the aged beef, and when asked I specified that I wanted it medium-rare. It arrived medium-well, and drenched in sauce, which (for those who know how to eat meat) is simply ruining any good piece of meat. Which makes me suspicious about the quality of the meat itself (long cooking and overuse of sauce often are used to hide bad quality)
The service: once we went at 10am for coffee and brunch,at which time one of the waiters gave us menu cards for cocktails and hard liqueur, nothing else. Other times, the service is so slow, I had to get off the table to go inside at the cashier to get the bill I asked for 30 minutes earlier.
Accessibility: the establishment has a disabled WC. Unfortunately, it's placed in such a corner, that anyone visiting during daytime is bound to be roasted alive by the scorching sun directly above hitting the dark coloured flooring. Also, and this is the worst part, in order to enter a wheelchair has to go through the back entrance, passing through the kitchen, cooking staff and garbage bins, all that after making it through a gravel parking lot where wheels get wedged in place every two seconds.
I hope they take into consideration these issues now that summer is over, and address them in time for the...
Read moreIt saddens me to be writing a negative review about this place because of the story of how it was founded. I thought it was a brilliant idea and was very excited to see it. The interior design of the place is beautiful and appropriate for nice photo shoots. However, two of my friends and I went there a couple of days ago. In the description on the website it stated that we have options to go to the beach or pool or bar and we paid 70 euros total for cabanas by the beach, thinking that we can swim in the sea as well as the pool. When we got there we swam in the ocean then took showers and went to swim in the pool but were stopped by someone who told us that we needed to reserve a place by the pool specifically to swim there. To our dismay it was too windy that day and the waves were extremely high so we couldn't swim the whole time. I would say that beach was appropriate for frequent swimmers who are used to swimming in the ocean. Also, they stated in the website that they have a sandy beach which can be a bit misleading. The seating area was sandy however the beach side was too rocky so we ended up leaving to buy swimming shoes. If I had kids with me I would have needed to leave. In terms of the service some waiters were very helpful but were not friendly. At some point we moved from the cabana to go eat in the seated restaurant area and were again stopped and asked if our swim suits were wet and to sit on our towels. The lady looked at us from top to bottom and it felt somewhat degrading. I looked at the chairs and they weren't fabric that could be destroyed from the water so I was surprised by their request. We ordered food and I would rate it as 7 out of 10. The sushi was nice, the burger buns were hard and the ceasar salad was abysmal. It cost us 64 euros to eat. We also ordered coffee and it cost 4 euros there. All in all we ended up paying 152 euros just to swim in the sea which we could've done for a quarter of the price in neighbouring beach...
Read moreNew state of the art beach club in Porto Raft. At the beginning of our visit there was a big mistake. The reaction and complaint management was solid and fair. Beach bed are super comfortable. 5 star for the conception and the design of the club. Everything seems to match, even the music and light concept match the interior design. Waiters are very attentive, well trained and super friendly, but all staff still need much more routine and training which is totally understandable after only 6 weeks (with COVID restrictions). As a restaurant professional I must say that the starters and the sweets are by far the best food I ever tasted in greece. Try the Vitello tonato, the Asian salad, burata, crispy Shrimps, dumplings, cheese cake and profiteroles. Pinses are totally trendy but these were stunningly finger licking good! (Home made dough). Main courses are not in the same league than the rest - meet was overcooked and taste combination was by far simpler and less exclusive then the other dishes. Hopefully next year little but important details will disappear. (Waited 40’ for main courses, 50’ for the bill, some orders were forgotten). Will definitely visit again, and wish you much success for this superb gastronomic beach...
