What a beautiful and charming restaurant tucked away in the quaint village of Melidoni, Greece. Caron n Olive truly surprised us with its warmth, authenticity, and exceptional food. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed, and the entire experience felt relaxed and inviting.

We started with the zucchini-stuffed flowers—delicate, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection, juicy and well-seasoned, while the chicken dishes were tender and satisfying. There was something for everyone on the menu, including generous portions and traditional Greek flavors that delighted our taste buds.

The kids were equally pleased with their meals. They especially loved the homemade meatballs, which were comforting and full of flavor. It’s not always easy to find a place that caters well to both adults and children, but Caron n Olive delivered on all fronts.

What stood out even more than the food was the service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. We left full, happy, and grateful for this lovely meal in a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path gem. A must-visit if you’re anywhere...

Carob n olive is a minutes walk from our gorgeous villa and we were not disappointed, this place is stunning, quirky, unusual yes but the attention to what they do is incredible, the cocktail menu of flowers with the drinks attached is a brilliant idea and the food menu attached to the metal grill for a better name😂 Our servers were great oh and by the way it’s one big happy family which we loved, makes it so much nicer. Tracey opted for a Greek salad which was the biggest we’ve seen could have served four but was rich in Greek olive oil and the feta the best we’ve ever tasted. I went for the burger which was recommended and didn’t disappoint ever the potato’s were incredible, everything just tasted amazing but that’s Greece for you. The ice cream is made here and we had the Cherry and the Dubai chocolate both rich and creamy just as ice cream should be! I’m not sure you’d ever stumble across this place but if you’re ever in the area definitely try them! Everything about this place is amazing in fact the village square is perfect...

While close to the cave and cozy in its own right, our service was nothing short of abysmal. Despite being nearly the only ones in the restaurant when lunch service began we managed to spend nearly 3 hours there as the staff did not seem too concerned to check up on us (in their defense the place quickly filled up, but I still feel this should not have happened).

The food on the other hand was amazing, especially the chicken served in a shroomy cream sauce.

Unfortunately, good food can't really excuse poor service and we had waited about twenty minutes (and asking several times) for the bill which we ultimately had to go and get ourselves. This meant we also did not get the complimentary drinks at the end (as again, no one seemed invested in serving us unless specifically insisting on it). Therefore, I cannot comment on that.

It might have been just a bad day, but that does not salvage...

We found this place by random when we were heading back to our hotel in Rethymno. Actually we were just going for a snack but got way more then we expected. We had a something like a special Greek Salad and Suflaki. We had to share the Salad as it was too much for one person. The Suflaki was great as well. đŸ‘ŒđŸ»For the dessert they gave us some sort of cookie ice cream, which was very nice. The lady that seems to own the place was friendly and recommended the Greek Salad special. Originally I wanted to order the normal Salad. I have to say that this place has some cool vibe to it. If you are looking for a good place to eat, which is not touristic, then you should go here. Especially as the prices are more than fair.
