If you are staying in Milos and want to expand your palate, Alevromilos is a MUST TRY for your itinerary. This place consistently serves some of the most delicious and flavorful food you will find on the island! It’s location in Parasporos is nice and quiet and accessible from any part of the island. Outside dining is peaceful and warmly lit. After deciding to go out for dinner as a family, we were quickly greeted and seated upon entry and given recipes in the language of our choice, along with complimentary bread and belde (there is always something new every time you go here so i recommend stopping by multiple times!) We ordered our appetizers (strongly recommend the pitarakia and zucchini fritters) and all of the food was flavorful with notably good portion sizes. At this point the chef also came out to greet us😁. When our main dishes came out, we could not help but take pictures. Beautiful plating, generous portion sizes, and complex flavor set this restaurant apart from the many other fine dining restaurants across the island. I was at first a bit off put my my dish as i picked up a corner of sauce and got a strong taste of allspice, however in combination with the rooster it becomes a lighter flavor that meshes with the other spices which are layered masterfully. We even ended up getting dessert here, during which our waiter recommended gelato with koufeto (caramelized pumpkin) which was SOOOOO good. Vasilis is a very friendly and welcoming host. I would not consider myself a cook, but felt comfortable and had a great time. My wife on the other hand, is an incredible cook, and was blown away by the experience. She learned so much and has many takeaways to apply in her own cooking. You certainly do not need to be a "cook" to enjoy this experience
After making 15 dishes in 2 hours, we were seated outside at his lovely restaurant to enjoy the food and wine. Vasilis was hospitable, making sure we had what we needed, but also gave us privacy to enjoy the meal and time together.
Overall we had a wonderful time. The whole experience, from the actual cooking, to learning about local cuisine, and chatting with Vasilis, was so much fun. While it was supposed to be 2 hours, 11-1pm, we were there until close to 3, as he gave us plenty of time to enjoy each other's company.
