Sarakina Fish Tavern — Restaurant in Municipality of Minoa Pediados

Absolutely in love with this place! We stayed 7 days in Tsoutsouros and we stayed every afternoon in the Saraki Taverna. The food is super fresh, delicious and very tasty. :) The atmosphere is very warm and the personal is very friendly. The Boss of the Taverna is the cook and a very cool dude 😉 It's the best place to go in Tsoutsouros, when you want fresh, inexpensive fish and sea food. We tried the several dishes, which I can all highly recommend to try: Grilled and fried calamaries, Mussles Politica, Fried Sardinies, Orzo with sea food, Spaghetti Napoletana, Home made beef burgers and Cretan baked feta. My absolute Favourite is the grilled Calamari. The isn´t any idea to improve them. If you wish, you can inside and check the available fresh fish. I would also like to highlight the following two deserts, which we absolutely loved: Cretan traditional cheese pies and Cretan asterousia mountain yogurt. Even if you don't choose any desert you get fresh fruits, some sweet piece and raki for desert, which where also very delicious. Sometoimes the service takes a bit longer but the view to sea doesn´t let...

I visited this taverna on my own and felt I was treated as a 2nd class customer. I understand why “single” clients do not get the best tables, but I do expect to receive equivalent service to all the other restaurant guests. In this part of Crete it is common for orders to be placed using a menu sheet in which the customer has to use tick boxes to indicate their menu choices. However in this case the system did not work and they forgot to serve my desert. I pointed this out when they tried to charge me for the desert and then rather than discount the desert off the bill, they offered to serve it to me. This was fine until I finally paid the bill when they short changed me by 20 euros. The food in this taverna is very good but in my experience the service is appalling. Customers deserve...
