Zorbas — Restaurant in Municipality of Minoa Pediados

Before i start, let me introduce myself: i have lived in Athens and been to all well known and a lot of less known Greek Islands. I have done Lesbos, Limnos, Corfu, Hydra, Aegina, Syros, Sifnos, Serifos, Naxos, Paros, Crete, Thira and many more. I know Greece.

This place is exceptional. The best. It would easily deserve Michelin fork. Owner, boss and main waiter is Kostas. His wife Maria is the chef. The quality of products and how chef can combine them is difficult to describe. At Zorbas I had best lamb chops of my life, best moussaka of my life, stuffed aubergine was the best aubergine of my life, and so on. One would ask “ok but what can you with greek salad? Horiatiki is horiatiki right”. Well. Here you will get the best local vegies, freshly chopped and you will get personal touch - how its been prepared by Kostas mum, and her mum… i will not disclose the details… come and try!

I never even opened the menu, Kostas was sitting with us and was recommending what his wife cooked on that day.

This is a family taverna which is hold with care! Big choice of greek dishes which changes every day (meat, fish, salads - whatever you want). Nice atmosphere, very pleasant personnel, fast service. Interesting feature (which we liked a lot): Kostas, the owner, finds time for everyone, talks with his guests a bit and makes the bill together with you: he comes to your table, sits with you checking together the order - this makes you feeling one family. At the end of the meal no doubt you will be served with fruits and raki. The taverna is next to a beach. You can also ask to take the food with you - this helped us once when we came back to Tsoutsouras very late from a long trip and the kids fell asleep in the car - so we could not sit in the restaurant. And all this at absolutely reasonable prices. We definitely recommend...

Also wo soll ich anfangen? Eine wunderbare, gemütliche Taverna mit einem super tollen Besitzer. Kostas ist immer zu scherzen aufgelegt und erklärt alles was man wissen muss. Er setzt sich zu einem an den Tisch und geht die Tageskarte durch, auch zwischendurch lässt er sich gerne blicken und plaudert ein wenig. Das Essen sehr sehr lecker. Seine Frau Maria steht in der Küche und zaubert frische, regionale Speisen auf hohem Niveau zu. Die Auswahl ist sehr gut und es ist für jeden etwas dabei. Die gegrillte Dorade ist eine klare Empfehlung. Die Weine sind(laut meiner Frau) auch sehr gut und ich kann das kalte Bier vom Fass nur empfehlen! Der griechische Salat als Vorspeise ist ein klares muss! Zum Abschluss gibt es das ein oder andere Fläschchen Raki und dazu frische süße Wassermelone. Die einzigartige Gastfreundschaft und das leckere Essen haben uns in 10 Tagen Aufenthalt beinahe jeden Abend zu kostas geführt. Vielen Dank und bis zum nächsten Jahr!

Λοιπόν, από πού ξεκινώ; Μια υπέροχη, ζεστή ταβέρνα με έναν υπέροχο ιδιοκτήτη. Ο Κώστας είναι πάντα έτοιμος να αστειεύεται και εξηγεί όλα όσα πρέπει να γνωρίζετε. Κάθεται μαζί σας στο τραπέζι και περνά από το μενού της ημέρας, επίσης στο μεταξύ του αρέσει να βλέπει και να συνομιλεί λίγο. Το φαγητό ήταν πολύ, πολύ νόστιμο. Η σύζυγός του Μαρία είναι στην κουζίνα και δημιουργεί φρέσκα, τοπικά πιάτα σε υψηλό επίπεδο. Η επιλογή είναι πολύ καλή και υπάρχει κάτι για όλους. Η ψητή τσιπούρα είναι μια σαφής πρόταση. Τα κρασιά είναι επίσης πολύ καλά (σύμφωνα με τη γυναίκα μου) και μπορώ να προτείνω μόνο την κρύα μπύρα! Η ελληνική σαλάτα ως ορεκτικό είναι ένα σίγουρο must! Τέλος, υπάρχει το ένα ή το άλλο μπουκάλι ρακί και φρέσκο, γλυκό καρπούζι. Η μοναδική φιλοξενία και το υπέροχο φαγητό μας έφεραν στον Κώστα σχεδόν κάθε βράδυ στη διαμονή των 10 ημερών.
