Aposperi — Restaurant in Municipality of Nisyros

We actually went to Apusperi because of the circus. Earlier I was shooting on the volcano and heard the performers practicing; I asked if they are playing anywhere and their friends told me they would be doing a show at this restaurant. So we came in the evening to catch it.

Since we arrived late, we couldn’t sit on the famous balcony with the landscape view and stayed in the backyard instead because of the darkness. But the setting was still really beautiful — it’s amazing how they cleaned up the ruins and transformed them into a restaurant.

For food, we ordered meat and chipura. We asked the waiter to bring the cold dishes first and then the meat, but everything arrived at the same time. We also ordered a second salad which never came, and even though we mentioned we don’t eat potatoes, they still brought them. The lamb was so flavorful but much more intense than we usually eat.

Still, the atmosphere and the circus performance on top of nissiros made the night truly special. I just wish the service had been more attentive, but overall it was a unique and...
