We arrived on the boat from Kalami so they knew we were time limited. It was raining, and there were leaks in the roof, we were sat at a table with water running down the wall into dirty towels. After 10 minutes we had not been brought a menu or offered a drink, so I had to call someone over. 15 mins after we had the menu I complained that no-one had taken our order, which they finally did. No specific waiters allocated to tables and none of them seemed to know what was going on, it was absolute chaos! We finally placed our order - our drinks took another 15mins to arrive after I had complained, and then the meal (just 1 course) 30 mins after that! We had drunk the wine by then 😂. The food was just warm and lacking in flavour. After we finished the food we waited for approx 20 mins when I went and asked if we could order coffee as we were due back on the boat shortly. We paid at the same time as ordering the coffee, which then did not arrive. It finally arrived 20 mins later after I complained again, just as the announcement for the boat was made. Luckily it was an expresso which was far from hot so we gulped it and rushed to the boat! So there you go, I complained numerous times whilst we were there, but with little success. It certainly was not a great experience and we will not go back or recommend it as there are far better...
Read moreMyself and my partner went here last night, and we could not have felt more welcome. The waiters were extremely friendly and funny, and were polite and chatty. We learnt that the one waiter had spent a few years in Canada and spoke so passionately about the food here as he had missed the taste of home. He understood perfectly our Vegan requirements, and recommended some great dishes. The food was absolutely delicious and very well priced. Myself and my partner had a starter each, a main each, a tankard of lager, two glasses of wine and a lemonade and it came to 30 euros - by far the cheapest but also tastiest meal we've had on the island. We also learnt that the cook is 'Grandma' who is 75 years old, and you can taste the love that goes into the food. I also have to add that the service was very speedy and the portion sizes are large - great value for money! If you can, definitely sit on the rooftop area as it offers a stunning view of the harbour. This restaurant is also cat friendly (which is always a plus!) And we were greeted by a beautiful siamese looking black cat who was so playful and affectionate. I would definitely love to come back here, and both myself and my partner would be keen to be hosted by the same waiter as he was so welcoming, conversational and funny too. Can't rate this place...
Read moreThis is an authentic, family run Taverna in one of the most scenic bays in Corfu. The owner and manager is not only a charismatic and dynamic person, he also has his eyes on everyone and everything, all the time. The food is typically Greek, but well cooked and since the beginning of the 2018 season, the cooking has gone up one level. There is a new chef who assists the owner’s wife in the kitchen and their grilled fish is amongst the best. The service is exceptional always, even when the restaurant is packed so no one can move; it just works under the watchful eye of Pericles who is ever present. The wine list is good and if you ask for more sophisticated wines, they appear as if by magic. The price to quality ratio is the best. The family takes the job seriously, they take their clients seriously, but never themselves. When I am in Corfu, I have lunch at Nikolas Taverna every day. Try it: you won’t be...
