We decided to try some Asian food, and we were not disappointed. We felt like a modern-day "Three's Company"—one of us was a chef experienced in Asian cuisine, I was an enthusiastic fan of various Asian and world cuisines, and the third person was perhaps the more reserved eater of the group. Suffice it to say, we left feeling pleased.
We arrived without reservation around 7:30 PM, were greeted with a smile, and sat quickly. The restaurant was bright and, in my opinion, just spacious enough. Some might find the seating a bit cramped, but I don't mind a little closeness while dining out. The service was fast, responsive to questions, and honest in their replies about what they knew and didn't know, which I appreciated.
The food was served promptly, and the flavours and ingredients were of good quality. It lived up to its promises, especially considering the prices. I found the selections—such as bao buns, shrimp appetizers, salad, fried rice, and a sweet and sour main dish—to be well-prepared and balanced. This is commendable, particularly because many restaurant chefs often have to rely on pre-prepared ingredients, like ready-made bao bun dough, which can differ in flavour from entirely handmade dough.
The kitchen appeared to be well-staffed and operated smoothly, with each position functioning effectively. However, this might change on a particularly busy night, so I would have to visit again and follow up. Overall, we enjoyed both the food and the service, and I sensed that the ownership is committed to elevating their standards, which is very promising. We all agreed that we would visit Aya again given the...
Read moreVisited today and even though the food is good, the service is questionable. We were a party of 3, including a 4 year old and we were sat next to the door(booked a table in advance). Firstly we enquired about wasabi in the nigiri rolls and we were assured that it was served on the side. Imagine our surprise when the salmon nigiri arrived and there was wasabi under. Secondly we ordered a prawn bao and we were served a duck bao which we sent back. After waiting for 25 minutes for a replacement ( and this was meant to be my main course) the bao arrived without an apology and we did ask to cancel. When the time to pay came, our server kindly informed us that the duck bao wasn't charged - even though we never ordered them, however, the very delayed prawn bao was charged as normal! At that point, I was visibly upset and I asked to speak to the manager, only to be told that there isn't any manager on the premises! How is that possible in a busy restaurant on a Saturday night? Very disappointed with the service, total lack of experience on how to treat a guest and of course, please teach the basics of your menu to the staff members. Might visit again to review. It is a shame for a good restaurant to have such inexperienced service, I believe more training is needed.
Update: Visited again on the 28th and I can honestly admit that the service has improved massively. The host especially was fantastic, professional and anticipated all our needs. Happy to see such an...
Read moreIn general I was very happy with this restaurant. A little bit pricy. But, tasty food and had no issues. Also, lately I experienced some occasions, that I was not very happy with. Someday I found out a big pointed plastic piece of something inside the ice-cream (while eating). The owner did not exactly apologised (or removed from the tab as apology). Let's say he explained himself because he said he was not responsible because it is not he's ice-cream but from an other company('s fault). So he stayed in our table for 5 more minutes and taking pictures as proof. It was really funny (not). We were really pissed off and we bored. Not mentioned I could cause trouble (we did not). I think it is not necessarily to mention that I do not care where the ice cream came from. So, the other bad thing I should mention (because I can not accept it), it is about the small space between tables inside the restaurant. There is a lot of noise and we could not even speak to each other. But, this was not the issue. The issue was about the people that speaks or wait above your head, and especially if it is about the owner itself (again). I do not know if it is worth to dine in and to be afraid if I eat a plastic or even a glass someday. Or even wait when someone will not hit your chair to eat and go home nervous with headache. Sorry but not recommended in this situation 2 stars. In other cases 4 stars (without these two negatives...
