I had the pleasure of dining at Maria's Taverna during my recent trip to Poros, and I must say, it is the best Greek taverna on the island! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Maria and her family, who made us feel like part of their own.
The atmosphere is cozy and authentic, with beautiful views of the sea that perfectly complement the dining experience. The highlight, however, is the food. Each dish is crafted with love and care, using traditional grandmother recipes that have been passed down through generations. The flavors are simply unparalleled – fresh, vibrant, and deeply satisfying.
We tried a variety of dishes, from the succulent lamb souvlaki to the mouth-watering moussaka, and each one was a culinary delight. The homemade tzatziki and fresh seafood were particularly outstanding.
Maria's passion for cooking and her dedication to preserving her family's culinary heritage shines through in every bite. It's rare to find such an authentic and heartwarming dining experience. If you're in Poros, do yourself a favor and visit Maria's Taverna. You won't be disappointed!

Read moreI have not enough words as to how good this place is! We decided to try it after we read the great reviews and the fact that it was recommended by locals. Well, it was exactly as described! The food was so tasty, the chicken was so moist, the meatball juicy and very very tasty. The tzatziki amazing as was the bread - I didn’t ask but it tasted homemade! It is next to the beach and there are lounge chairs which belong to the tavern. The prices are very reasonable and the quantity very generous. The staff was very friendly! We will be visiting Poros again and we can’t wait to visit this gem again! Wish I took pictures of the food but we were too eager and therefore by the time I thought of it, it...
Read moreAn excellent place to eat, quality traditional Greek food right by the sea, all in a fair price.
We went there after a recommendation of a few local friends and we really didn't regret the extra walk needed. The staff was hospitable, offering quite the quick service while respecting the serving order of the food. When we finished our entrées, the main course was immediately ready for us to enjoy.
The only thing that I would appreciate (although minor) would be a larger beer selection.
All in all, if you're coming to Poros, even for a quick visit, you should definitely check out this traditional...
