There is a small front bar and a more restaurant-like area on the back of the building. This part has full windows and is slightly elevated, so there are pleasant views over the surrounding smallholding.
We ate here 3 times on a 2-week holiday in April 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed every meal. There is a regular menu plus daily specials.
I am no expert on Greek cooking (yet -- I am working on it!) but would say it was good traditional dishes; I particularly enjoyed mains of snails one night, and tremendous lamb with bitter greens another time. Char-grilled vegetables were delicious and the 'Veranta salad' has made it hard to enjoy salads since we returned home!
Portions were very generous and you should plan to share each dish between at least two people when making your choices. Read moreA small, family-run restaurant with an amazing atmosphere and a beautiful terrace, especially magical at sunset. Here you can taste real, traditional Cretan cuisine – fresh, fragrant and absolutely authentic. These were by far the best dishes we tried during our two weeks in Crete! The hosts patiently explained the ingredients and described each meal, and their warmth made us feel like visiting friends. We came back several times, because both the food and the atmosphere are truly unmatched. The owners even surprised us with little gifts when we left – such a touching and memorable gesture. This place will stay in our hearts for a long time, and we will definitely come back on our next trip to Crete. Highly recommended to everyone who wants to experience the real taste of the island! 🌿🍷🌅

Since it’s behind the building and not by the street, it’s wonderfully quiet. The ordering system is clever and simple: you just mark your choices on a card, which leaves no room for mistakes. The house wine was a real surprise - much better than we expected, truly enjoyable. At the end of the meal, we were offered raki infused with lemon, cinnamon, and sugar - refreshing, smooth, and unlike what we got in other places. The host was absolutely fantastic. We had a nice chat and he’s genuinely a wonderful person. On top of all that, the prices were the most affordable of the three taverns.
And of course, the food itself...
