Jordans Grill — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

Hidden away, nestled on the edge of a small rocky cove next to Kallithea Springs, we found Jordan's Grill Canteen. The host, Jordan, was very welcoming and showed us to our table. Everything was clean and our table was positioned under shade with a gorgeous outlook to the sea. Glasses were frosted and the beer was cold and the menu was very extensive, offering traditional greek salad and a variety of seafood, as well gyros, burgers and pizza. There were 11 of us including children and there was something for everyone on the menu. We ordered a host of different dishes including calamari, octopus, greek salad, whitebait, gyros and muscles. While the presentation was basic, as you would expect from a beach canteen, the food was well cooked and delicious! While there we learned that this is a family run establishment which has been there for years. Jordan and his wife take care of front of house and cooking while their lovely daughter, Katerina, looks after you at your table. Ich fragte nach einer akzeptablen Wartezeit bei einem jungen Kellner, ob ich einen Tomatensalat mit Zwiebeln bekommen könnte, da dieser Salat nicht in der Speisekarte aufgeführt ist. Der Kellner sagte mir, es sei kein Problem, er könne mir einen Tomatensalat machen. Ein anderer, noch jüngerer Kellner brachte mir dann eine Portion Tsatsiki, sowie den von mir bestellten Tomatensalat mit Pitabrot (50 Cent laut Speisekarte) für eine Person und ein Getränk (Mythos Radler, laut Karte 3,50 €). Den Tsatsiki nahm ich natürlich nicht an. Öl, Essig und Salz/Pfeffer wurden umgehend nachgereicht. Ich wollte nach dem Verzehr des doch sehr leckeren Salates direkt an der Kasse bezahlen und der Preis war dann doch sehr überraschend. Ich sollte 12,50 € bezahlen!!! Ich sagte der jungen Frau an der Kasse, dass ich doch lediglich den Tomatensalat und ein Radler hatte (natürlich war das pitabrot in den 12,50 inbegriffen) und deshalb mir zu teuer erscheint. Sofort fragte sie den (vermutlichen) Chef, der dann den Tomatensalat auf 6,-€ heruntersetzte. Ich verstand diese Kommunikation zwischen den beiden (auf griechisch), da ich ein bisschen Griechisch spreche/verstehe (ich lebte vor langer Zeit für ein Jahr in Athen). Das heißt, der Tomatensalat hätte 8,50 -€ kosten sollen!! WOW… der vermutliche Chef erklärte mir auf Englisch, dass Tomaten teuer sind, und der Salat nicht in der Karte aufgeführt sei. Daher hat er anstelle dessen einen Griechischen Salat gebucht… das wäre nun das griechische System. Es hätte sich vieles geändert in Griechenland, meinte er, und so ist nun das Sytem… Ich sollte dann 10,50 € bezahlen, aber mit 10 € zeigte er sich zufrieden (mit seinem System)… ich sagte ihm, dass müsse er selbst beurteilen, ob dieses System für sein Geschäft gut wäre und legte ihm 2,-€ Trinkgeld dazu, zeigte ihm aber meine Unzufriedenheit, dass dieses (sein) System nicht kundenfreundlich ist! Da sollte er mal darüber nachdenken, gab ich ihm noch bei meiner Verabschiedung mit auf seinen Systemweg mit. Jordan's-System werde ich nicht noch einmal...

Asked for a greek salad and 2 chicken gyros wrapped in pita bread. The waiter said they don't serve wrapped gyros, only sandwiches. So we got that instead. A couple of minutes later we saw someone getting served gyro wrapped in pita bread. When we asked the waiter why we couldn't get one, the only answer we got is because they only do it for employees and not customers!!

Needless to say, the gyro sandwich was bad. The bread was a soggy sugary hot dog bread, and the amount of gyro inside was almost none existing.

The greek salad was ok.

Would rather recommend the canteen at the parking lot on top of the hill where the owners are...
