Kantína — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

All the reviews about the place are true. The prices are much more reasonable than those around for what these beach bars and restaurants offer in terms of food and basic drinks. It is also situated in-between two “hype” beaches with a great view with tables under the trees. So you can still have the best of both worlds.

What I can also add is how helpful and welcoming the owners are. FYI the public transport system in Rhodes is not the most efficient especially if you want to buy bus tickets. Just make sure to always have some cash with you (simply rent a car) because there are no ticket machines at the bus stops and you can’t pay by card. So we weren’t allowed in the bus (!!!) although we were heading to the final stop where there are 2 ticket corners. Anyway we returned to the cantina and the owners helped us out by offering to pay for our bus fare. We obviously didn’t accept and insisted on paying digitally. Take out truck conveniently located in the parking lot of kalithea springs. The owner/chef is super friendly and makes you feel welcome. He’s also very accommodating to any dislikes or sensitivities. The food is more than fairly priced, especially for the portion you get and it’s delicious. The kebab box was amazing, perfectly crispy fries soft in the middle and the kebab was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. There’s small tables on the side of the truck, in the sun overlooking the beautiful waters, there’s also more tables behind the truck if you want some shade under trees. There’s plenty of parking as it’s in the springs free parking lot and you don’t have to pay the springs entrance fee to get to it, the truck is just on the other side of the lot. I mean they don't do a lot of things. And I don't know if the burgers are any good, because they were just out, and we mostly got Pita Gyros Chicken. But it's really quite excellent Pita Gyros Chicken.

Nicely served in a neatly wrapped flatbread, stuffed with finely sliced red onion, fresh tomato, and mayo, then filled to the brim with very tasty chicken slices, and topped off with some fries. Cold drinks in the fridge.

There are a few other options, of hotdogs, or omelette / chicken in a bun, and a burger. We had one plain hotdog and 3 Pita Chicken Gyros plus 4 drinks for under €20.
