After four weeks and over 20 visits to highly-rated restaurants on the island, I argue that Mariposa is one of the top 3 restaurants on the island. The restaurant is run by Maria and Konstantin, and Seva (Maria's sister) manages the corresponding top-tier hotel (see my "Nikos Ikies" review).
Location: Away from the crowds, situated 50 meters from the beach with a sea-view. It's nestled in the garden of the hotel, easily accessible by bus or car, and offers private parking.
Ambiance & Equipment: The restaurant is tastefully decorated in a bohemian style. Tables, chairs, cutlery/dishes, restroom, etc. have all been renovated to a high quality. Table lighting, ground spots, trees and plants are incredibly harmonious.
Cuisine: A kitchen worthy of Gault-Millau and Michelin star recognition! Excellent Greek (partially fusion) cuisine. Maria is a passionate chef who travels the world, drawing culinary inspiration to incorporate into her restaurant. The menu is updated weekly and reflects the regional ingredients available at the time. They grow fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs in their own garden for their dishes.
Breakfast, dinner, and desserts are truly unparalleled.
Konstantin, Maria, and their children are incredibly sociable people and take care of their guests in an authentic way. It's no surprise that this slightly hidden restaurant is constantly booked.
Drinks: We love wines and were somewhat uncertain about how Greek wine on the island would taste. It's challenging to find the right wine in some restaurants on the island. Konstantin and Maria offer solid wines that you can confidently order for dinner. (Konstantin invited a sommelier to expand their wine list with high-quality selections. We were kindly invited to participate in the tasting and were thrilled.) The cocktails are also unbelievably good. You can expect finely balanced, flavorful cocktails, not just commercial ones.
A must-visit for every traveler...
Read moreI'm really impressed. I will try to briefly describe the points why you MUST visit this place. Very tasty food and presentation of the dish. Here you can replenish your Instagram with great photos and at the same time enjoy the taste. The portions are quite large and most importantly DELICIOUS; Freshness of products. Most of the ingredients such as tomatoes, cucumbers (etc) are from the owner's garden, which adds more love to the dish. Even the pasta that my boyfriend ordered was cooked in the kitchen on the same day by the chefs themselves, and not bought in a store and cooked; (As for me the most important) ATMOSERA. We did not book a table (but I advise you to do this in advance) and we were lucky that there was a place for us. We were served by a friendly owner of the restaurant. His wife works in the kitchen. I can say with absolute certainty that this place is filled with love. You can feel it at the very entrance. love is everywhere. In the food, in the attitude of the staff towards you, even in the owner's small adorable dog that will sometimes come up to you (but not reach you), in the interior and the sea view that opens up in front of you. There were also a lot of kids there and they had a great time with their family. I will definitely come back here and I advise you to visit this place. ❤️ P.S. And yes, the prices...

Try the ultrathin capaccio with truffles and the best olive oil you can imagine! The plate with pita and sips - all homemade - is outstanding! Rarely happening, but all main dishes were individually interpreted, bur still in a traditional line: Bœf s Stroganoff, c Calamari on Mangochutney, Linguine Frutti di Mare and Papardelle Caprese - everything fresh, homemade pasta, fresh herbs and basil, rich portions! The drinks follow the same concept: all fresh and homemade, traditional with an innovative interpretation! And even if you think, you won't be able to eat anything more after the main course: you don't want to miss the deserts! Homemade icecreams in the best Italian tradition, a real crispy variant of baklava with pistachio icecream and the best imaginable Tiramisu! All drinks including Gin Tonic, Beer, white and red wine and a delicious Coffee-Caramel-Martini were absolutely matching the food! The ambiente is cosey but elegant, you can dress up but don't have to, the style is elegant carrabean, but still allows tank tops and elegant dresses alltogether .... My recommendation: make...
