Ousies — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

We came here during our short trip to Rhodos. And just stayed for the rest of our holiday. The food was too delicuous to go anywhere else. Our favorites were the octopus salad, the spicy feta and the mussels saganaki. We honestly never ate anything better than these mussels. And before you ask - no, the chef did unfortunately not share the recipe.. The service did speak English very well and even a bit of German, everybody was very friendly and relaxed. This isn’t just a typical local restaurant, it truly feels like home. We discovered Ousies and ended up dining here two nights in a row. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like old friends. Elena is not only the kindest and most welcoming host, but also full of warmth and humor. She instantly makes you feel part of the family.

An unforgettable feast: cheese saganaki, tzatziki, fried zucchini balls, grilled octopus, fried calamari, garlic shrimp, symi shrimp, and the tiniest, crispiest fried fish. Every dish was bursting with flavor and freshness.

Great and authentic Greek restaurant we found close to our Airbnb. Fried zucchini balls better than my mum’s - and a great variety of vegetarian dishes to accompany ouzo. We also ordered spicy feta, tzatziki, eggplant salad, greek salad and sausage with eggs - take away box available for leftovers. The staff were lovely and competent. You can expect a classic atmosphere of a meyhane or taverna - which means traditional music, cats around, indoor smoking allowed (with AC, open doors and windows, it probably wouldn’t disturb non-smokers), great dishes spread across your table.
