A lovely restaurant in front of the sea, with their own parking, sunbeds and lovely views, it's the whole package really. The few sunbeds are on a grassy area next to the restaurant (there was a price, cheap in comparison to the rest of the island, but we were never asked to pay, and we went there four times). There aren't many people so it's an ideal spot for relaxing and reading your book over the pebbly beach and for a swim. There's also a shower. Ta Filarakia is open all day. The food is excellent. Famous for their meat dishes, yet meat, fish and traditional Greek dishes are all delicious! I'd recommend the kalamari and the salted mackerel, delicious. The service is great too, friendly, relaxed but very professional. Plenty of outside sitting and a few tables under parasols closer to the sea. Most of all, the sunset from this place is a must! And if you get there in August, you'll get to see the sun set in the sea. As with all beach restaurants, there are a lot of bees and wasps which might be annoying at lunch time- my suggestion, book a table under the front parasols just in time to watch the amazing sunset and have your dinner after, the bees go to sleep and you can enjoy your meal...
Read moreWe went here on our last holiday evening because the Google reviews were very good. We were looking for a restaurant that was on the north side of the island so we could watch the sunset while we ate. I have to say we have no regrets about our choice.
The waitresses were very friendly and attentive. We sat right in front of the sea and had an excellent view of the sea and the sunset. It was somehow cozy and romantic at the same time. All guests were very quiet and just enjoyed the peace and quiet.
For starters we ordered a Greek salad and garlic bread. The garlic bread was just amazingly delicious and we couldn't get enough of it. For main course I had the grilled sea bass and my friend the grilled sea bream. We were thrilled because we are not really fish eaters, but we really wanted to try it. In the end we were super happy with our selection. During our whole stay we have not gotten such good food anywhere else and, above all, at such fair prices. At the end we got a small ice cream on the house.
Unfortunately, we only discovered the restaurant on the last day, otherwise we would definitely have come here more often. Our last evening at this restaurant was...
Read moreGreat sea view lured us into having a lunch there. The restaurant was like 20% occupied, and we got a table in the second row away from the sea. Had to change the table since its legs were different in length, which caused it to swing. Fruit morse and frappe were okay. I ordered roasted lamb in the oven. It was terrible quality because it was REALLY fat. The whole dish was swimming in the lard. Didn't expect that because lamb is usually regarded as lean meat. I ate, angry about the fat, a third of it, and I started feeling sick. I couldn't continue and left it unfinished. I almost always finish my meals, but not this time. After stating my concerns about the lard to the waiter, she offered us some ice cream. Since I was just about to throw up and couldn't eat anything, i refused. We paid and left. It was the worst eating experience for a week in Rhodes. I remembered that cocacola helps with stomach after faulty meals, so I bought a big bottle and drank like 1 L of it. Eventually, everything went back to normal without a need to throw up. I hope next time the waiting staff warns customers about out of the ordinary meals (superfat lamb...
