Akrogiali Oi Didymoi — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

We only stopped off on the motorbike for what we said would be an hour but we ended up staying the full afternoon and into evening . Lovely place to stop off, nice beach thats mostly sandy and perfect for a swim. Free sunbeds for customers, we had drinks and swam to cool off. Later we became a little hungry so ordered food. My wife had a Greek salad with bread and a dip while I had chicken souvlaki. It was prepared and cooked to perfection! The best food on our holiday! The family are lovely, Vacillia and Kalliopi were working in the kitchen and treated us to ice cream before we left whilst the men kept up the good service to customers and also did some of the great Greek cooking. This was the worst food I ever ate in Greece. Everything is just fat. They fry everything. What are those baby shrimps? And they did put an eggplant (Aubergine) in olive oil to fry it. Of course you can not fry eggplants without breadcrumbs, no the eggplant will just fill up itself with oil like a sponge. There was about a quarter liter of oil in the eggplant. Normaly fried or grilled eggplants are deliciuous but at this restaurant its horrible. We said 2 times we want to pay but the waiter only said yes and never came. I had to go inside to tell them I want to pay now. They still ignored me. Very unpleasent staff. Why do other people write the food is good there? Lool at the pictures it does not look good. And a mini plate with fries for 3.50 euros is epensive. I guess you pay for all the oil...

The food was really nice, we both ordered gyros plates. Chips are the best I’ve had here. It’s a really nice setting right on the seafront. The menu was rather limited, it could have done with more variety, or maybe some snack items. The service was quite poor, we sat there for a while before someone came over and threw menus at us without saying a word. I don’t think we would have stayed if we hadn’t been out for a while trying to find somewhere that was open. We got the feeling that we were a nuisance to the staff and they didn’t want us there.
