Me and my wife spent the last evening of our recent vacation in this restaurant. We have been visiting this restaurant once in a while and were always pleased by the quality of the food, except for the french fries which where frozen and not freshly made. Well, it's a fish restaurant (a very good one) and not a fast food spot. So, we had two starter: shrimp balls, skordalia and two main dishes: cooked octopus and fried squid. The food was good as always, but.... ... the service completely ruined our evening. I have NEVER seen anything like this in my entire life. What happened? We were greeted by a very kind young lady, but then, desaster happened. My wife loves squid but hates any kind of coating (dough or flour) and asked the waiter how the 'fried squid' was prepared. He denied any coating. Guess what? It was floured! I understand that this is a good way to prepare quite small squids, but my wife was disappointed. The food was brought to the table by the most unpolite waiter I have witnessed so far. Plates were more or less thrown towards the table, no eye contact, no smiling, just "bread"... woosh, on the table, not even were we sat. The worst of all though was the fact that the main dish was served first, then the shrimp balls, then the skordakia and finally the squid. All plates served by that dude.
If the nice young lady wasn't so friendly (also when we paid) we would have been completely angry. But still, I have to convince my wife to ever return again.
Food excellent, food order and (this one)...
Read moreWe visited Kakias Ouzeri for a late lunch, and it was an experience worth remembering. The location is stunning—right next to the marina, where you can literally reach out and touch the small fishing boats, creating the perfect backdrop for a seafood feast. The menu offers a great selection of seafood delicacies, including fresh shellfish, ceviche, grilled and fried fish, as well as seafood pasta dishes. We started with murex and lakerda, which were fantastic meze, and the tarama mousse stood out for its silky texture and excellent flavor. The absolute highlights, however, were the grilled octopus and sepia. Perfectly tender and full of flavor, the staff even sliced them in front of us, and the taste of charcoal was simply astonishing. To accompany our meal, we enjoyed Teteris ouzo from Chios—a wonderful pairing that complemented the seafood beautifully.Service was another strong point: the staff were friendly, attentive, and impressively fast. The whole experience felt warm and genuine, making us feel very welcome. Overall, Kakias is a must-visit in Salamina. I would gladly take the ferry from Athens again just to enjoy another meal here. Read moreBest fish tavern ever! From the moment we arrived, we knew this would be a special experience. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was outstanding, and every member of the team was friendly and highly professional. A special mention goes to Maria, who looked after us with such warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care – she truly made us feel at home.
Small touches, like the coloring sheets for children, showed how much thought goes into making every guest’s visit enjoyable.
The food was absolutely delicious! The calamari was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked, while the carpaccio was delicate, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. Highly recommended are also the shrimp fritters and the tender, flavorful octopus. Every dish we tried was made with high-quality ingredients and obvious love for good food.
Extra bonus points for the complimentary dessert and liqueur at the end – a perfect sweet finish. And of course, the location is unbeatable: right by the sea, with beautiful views that make the whole experience even more memorable.
We left with full hearts, satisfied appetites, and every intention to come...
