Akrogiali Taverna Kerkyra — Restaurant in Municipality of Southern Corfu

I’m afraid this place is a bit overrated. We hadn’t made a reservation so they made us feel a bit unwelcome from the start (even though there were tables available).

The service was generally unfriendly as if we were an inconvenience. When we ordered our food the gentleman asked us if we would be paying with cash or card. A bit strange!?

The food was good but we had two children with us and were not offered a children’s menu and yet the kids on a table near us had chicken nuggets (which our kids would have liked if we’d known that was an option).

When I paid the bill the man at the bar didn’t even look me in the eye when he said thank you.

You don’t need to go to fancy restaurants like this in Corfu. Amazing food and friendly service is available elsewhere for half the price. Ok the sea view is beautiful but for us the poor service let down...

We were staying at the MarBella Hotel next door and decided to branch out from the hotel cuisine and dine at one of the local Tavernas.

What a wonderful place we found here. Wonderfully friendly staff who took great care of us. A great choice of wines and the beer was perfectly ice cold. The food was absolutely fantastic. We had a mix of traditional Greek starters to share between us which we loved. And the main courses were incredible. We were a party of 7 who all had different dishes and each one was fantastic. I personally had the fried Calamari and it was so so good. And on top of the great food and drink you get to dine looking out on to the most incredible sea views.

I would highly recommend visiting for some wonderful food and would 100% visit again if...

Taverna Akrogiali was such a special part of my husband and my honeymoon! We were staying at Marbella Nido, and found ourselves often having a late lunch or happy hour here. It was right on the beach so had a lovely view, and every single food item we tried over our week in the area was amazing. Of note, we loved the meatballs, halloumi, pastichio, gyro, and fish cakes. Truly, all were so good! They also had great house wine which we'd get by the carafe, and all was reasonably priced. The staff was great, too - they gave us some free ice creams one of the times we were there - it felt like it'd be our local spot if we lived nearby! Definitely a highlight...
