What can I say about the wonderful lunch that we enjoyed at Ovelos? That it was the tastiest and lightest Greek mixed grill we have ever had? Yes that is true, yet that was not the only remarkable experience. That the host was calm, kind and charismatic? Yes, he made is feel comfortable from the first minute we walked towards the cosy tables close to the bridge over the river. He also explained clearly that a few menu items were no longer available today, but that there was enough delight to choose from. All of these things made our lunch a positively memorable experience. What made it delightful were the very relaxed and friendly cats that quietly slept close to our table, without ever once bothering us. They were just “zen”, and we enjoyed them being there, as if they have always been part of this idyllic scenery. Yet, what made our lunch perfect were the wonderful tastes of the different pieces of meat on our Mixed Grill. The juiciest beef burger you can imagine, lightly seasoned and playful hints of smoke. An extraordinary sausage that made me secretly wish to order an extra one. And excellent chicken skewers, that completed this modest symphony of tastes.

All and all, reasons to return...

We decided to visit this restaurant because of its high rating, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet our expectations. The staff was friendly, but the service had serious issues. We ordered tzatziki, octopus, zucchini, and two main dishes, but we had to wait at least 40 minutes before getting any food. They could have easily served the appetizers earlier.

The biggest problem was with the bill. We initially ordered 1 liter of wine and later added 500 ml more. However, the final check included one 1L and two 500ml, which was incorrect. We didn’t have the energy to argue about it as we had another reservation to catch, but it left a very bad impression.

The supervisor was always shouting, not polite and also were cussing us out for absolute no reason. They didnt have forks , plates or knifes. Around 50 minutes later they gave us our food in a box and they said "Because we have no time to put them in differend boxes(we were 4 people). We ordered 4 chicken soublakia ( only chicken was left) , 3 orders of fries and 3 "pites". In the box there were only 1 and a half "pites" , 1 order of fries and our 4 soublakia. The pites were ok but had to much oil , the fries were not edible only oil and had no taste. Finally, the soublakia were ok very juicy but no spices. I would not recommend going there.
