Tonia Tavern — Restaurant in Municipality of Thira

At first glance you might want to dismiss this restaurant for the others along the strip on Thirasia. However we had a lovely meal here and the older lady who served us was lovely. As we were later eating after the crowds had gone, she even gave my wife a second grilled sea bream on the house and showed us how to fillet it. A mix up on our drinks orders also meant they gave us a courtesy beer. All in all we had a very nice meal all for about €35. A really nice family...

This place gets lost in a row of similarly bad restaurants, and are a good example that “authentic” doesn’t necessarily mean good. The restaurant’s menus were unreadable to start with. Then the bread was stale, the fried tomatoes were way too greasy, and the general quality of main courses was subpar.

Cibo pessimo e prezzi alti. Il locale ha una bella posizione con vista sulla Caldera e Thirasia. La signora e i camerieri sono gentili e cortesi, ma il cibo è pessimo, come pure i prezzi sono molto alti. Rapporto qualità/prezzo sbilanciato eccessivamente. Ho preso una Moussaka e un'insalata greca, due pietanze "tradizionali" ed entrambi non avevano niente di Greco se non il nome. L'insalata era piena di acqua e mancavano gli ingredienti tipici dell'insalata greca come le olive!! La Moussaka non sapeva affatto di Moussaka!

Not cheap. Not good. The restaurant has a good position with a nice view on Caldera's. The owner and the waitress were polite and gentle. But food was very bad and prices are high.
