Dinner at Maru is an absolutely wonderful experience. Every aspect of this restaurant is perfect. The aesthetic of the building is beautiful, with a pristine marble facade and a classy interior. The food is simply out of this world. After traveling extensively around the Cyclades islands, Maru stood out as being a truly special culinary experience. From the gorgeously seasoned salads to the perfectly presented and delicately cooked fish dishes (the fishsoup and the cod and beetroot was delightful), to the sumptuous desserts (wonderfully light lemon and yogurt dessert), among other delectable choices -- this place is simply a treat for the senses. To top it off, the owner, Stelios, is a true gentleman, and his positive energy brings a smile to your face. Incredible experience and my wife and I loved both our visits there. p.s. Also thank you to Stelios' mom and other staff for the lovely...
Read moreA wonderful experience in the small bay of Panormus. We had a lovely lunch by the port at around 1.30pm, and the place was still empty (low season!). The waiters were nice and helpful, despite us interrupting their meal, they rushed to set our table. They offered us homemade breadsticks with a lovely dip, we shared a spinach-cheese pie for a starter, then had the veal cooked in tomato sauce (fries on the side) and the fried squids (with dill sauce!). For dessert we had the mille "fake" which is just three layers of fillo, filled with delicious pastry cream. They even offered a very good homemade sweet wine. Everything was fresh and chiefly cooked. The waiter was nice and answered our curious questions about the food and gave us directions to the beach. A special place, be sure to stop on your way to Rochari Beach.
A good price for meat...

The staff were very fast and friendly as well as knowledgeable on the menu and it was a delight discussing the dishes with them, something only possible due to coming in a mid-week day at the end of the season when the traffic is low. We had a fantastic velouté fish soup and a dish made from the island's local goat meat which is harder find and it was off menu, but the staff will inform you of it. Apart from that we got a local goat's cheese accompanied by a grape molasses which, factoring in the pairing, was extraordinary. Other than that the prices are very reasonable and accessible to everyone and I strongly support visiting this establishment, especially if you have rented a car...
