This is a cafe located on a marvelous location. I went there alone on a Sunday afternoon for coffee and dessert. Unfortunately I had a terrible experience with some other people (5 in total) that were sitting on another table and were listening very loud videos and then laughing very loudly. I asked them politely twice to wear headphones for the videos. They didn’t pay any attention to me and even started making even more noise than before. The third time I asked for help from the staff. The staff member told them to stop but they didn’t listen to him. I decided to leave although I was on my second coffee and an almost unfinished cake cause I was no longer feeling supported and protected in that place as a customer. The group of people that were making the noise were so impolite that told me, for them to have their videos playing loud was the same as if there was music in the cafe. This is completely untrue because the shop owner has the right to put the music s/he prefers for the shop and we as customers choose if we want to sit or not, but imagine if at each table there was a different video playing loud - this is insane! They even accused me that I told them they were laughing loudly although I never made such comments. Everybody has a different level of loudness and this is human. But the videos’ loudness, this is something you can control: by wearing headphones.
As I was leaving in a hurry totally disappointed by all the above and having those people laughing at me (probably feeling proud that they managed to kick me out?), a lady that was sitting with her husband and her baby at some other table near by, approached me when we were away from the noisy table and told me I was brave enough to speak up against so many people and that I was right in my reactions since she was also very much annoyed. However, she explained she could not support me in public because her husband was in business with those people and although they woke up their baby they didn’t complain about the noise. All 5 people were extremely vulgar and I personally felt bullied. I’m sure that if I was a man or if I was escorted by a man they would have been much more reserved in their reactions. Just an example for this argument, when they asked the other table if there were annoyed they only asked the man. And they did that in clear view. They approached him and looked and asked only him. This is the moment I decided to leave.
I’m sorry I had to write all this, but if there is any woman out there thinking to visit alone this place just have in mind that if any of the “regular” clients creates any trouble, YOU will have to leave in order to best protect yourself.
In the end, the staff suggested me, not to pay for the second coffee since I didn’t manage to finish it. I appreciated it. Staff members were kind to me when the noisy table couldn’t listen to us, but this is not enough. For such a touristic place I was expecting a little bit more...
