We visited marathopolis twice during our vacation. Both times we dined in Panorama. Words cannot describe how good the experience was. First of all the lavish location next to the sea is breathtaking. Then when it comes to the service, it's swift, people are easygoing and very friendly. It's a family business and you feel welcomed and greeted with a smile.
Now the best part regarding food! Everything we tried was top quality, a mix of traditional fish cuisine with modern touch without being overwhelming. Totally balanced taste with fair price/quality ratio.
First time we tried fish/shrimp carpaccio, fish salad and slipper lobster pasta(κωλοχτυπα μακαρονάδα). Everything was so tasty but oh my god the pasta was amazing. Perfectly cooked, not a lot of tomato sauce covering the taste of the lobster and pasta boiled exactly the way it should be. Totally recommended.
Second time we expected the same awesome experience. Wrong! It was even better. I am a sea food lover and had noticed grouper pasta (ροφομακαροναδα) on the menu. We ordered pasta for two, katiki salad and sea urchin salad. Eating the urchin eggs with fresh bread is like tasting the sea itself. Having tried several pasta dishes in my life, especially the ones containing seafood, I was never expecting the grouper pasta to be so good. It almost made me forget the previous dishes. Almost! Fish was tender, juicy and so tasty along with the perfectly boiled past. Again not much of tomato sauce to cover the taste of the fish. High five to the chef!
Short version. Go there, sit, order any fish dish, repeat ;) Cheers to the owners,...
Read moreWe were passing by, after a hot day in the beach, and we're looking for a traditional fish tavern with the usual small fried fish, calamari etc. Instead, we came upon a pompous menu with e.g. blue (indigenous) crab and the lot... As we were n't looking for luxury, in an area full of cultivation and greenhouses, we opted for simple food, some fried calamari and grilled chicken. The calamari was quiet pricey compared to the size of the portion , and the latter was served, without been asked for, with boiled veggies, at least a day's old! To underline also that a small portion of green leaves , vlita, was priced at 7,5 euro. On the positive side , the view was magnificent and the service was fairly good. It seems that nearby luxury settlements, have attracted entrepreneurs seeking higher end clientele, with the end product being pricey, not of equal quality and not appreciated for by people seeking more traditional...
Read moreDefinitely not worth a visit, nice spot but the food was average and quite expensive for what it offer's. We had grilled octopus, fried kalamari ,french fries, fish souvlaki, chicken souvlaki and a salad.
From All the above the best dish was the octopus and all other were not something special but priced as such. We also were disappointed to find out that the 14€ fish souvlaki had fast food type french fries as a side and not the same as the french fries ordered as a separate dish.
We compained on that and the excuse was that the place was crowded and could not manage the volume.
At the end we did not get a receipt with the Bill and we had to ask for but didn't bother...
It is worth noting that our friends told us that they had different kind of experience when the place was not crowded, but the same disappointing one when full.
The first and last...
