Taverna To Kapileio — Restaurant in Municipality of Troizinia - Methana

After visiting this place consistently over the span of three years, as a loyal customer and a friendly presence, I have come to the conclusion that this restaurant caters only to tourists and foreigners - they don't service you properly if you're a native Greek person, nor do the plate portions actually match those of what they give out to tourists. I have never once in these three years received free dessert - in the form of a fruit or anything - after my meal, no matter how consistent I was with attending this restaurant. The service is horrible and the food, overtime as you become a regular, only worsens in both quality and quantity. This restaurant and its owners will treat you nicely if you don't speak Greek, but otherwise your experience will be more than subpar. I do not recommend this as your food destination. The price will absolutely not match the quality...

Simply incredible. Every dish we had - chosen by a visit to the kitchen - was packed full of flavour. The lemon potatoes that accompanied the slow roasted chicken thighs and the bean stew in a rich tomato sauce were my favourites, but everything was divine. The chef also offered a sampling of her aubergine, grown locally. Wonderful. All set on a side street in the shade, with a view down a gently sloping street, to the sparking sea on one side, or to the cluster of local grocers and people going about their shopping on the other. An authentic Greek restaurant and a true family gem! Mom does the cooking with love, the daughter serves with a smile, and even the baby was there — already gaining experience from an early age!
