Important note first: Ψαράκια & Θαλασσινά Βάρκιζα is quite a hidden gem, hard to find! You need to follow a sign with a black cat on it, which will send you into a small alley and then upstairs. There you will find the real restaurant, on the first floor and with a very nice look from the balcony on the street and nearby seaside. Quite romantic as well, if I can say. The place is also pretty big, so it's easy to host dinner for a large number of people. We had an all-out-fish-dinner, with multiple appetizers, shrimps cooked in various Greek sauces, fresh fish, and more. All the portions were remarkably large and almost all of them tasty! I liked some dishes more than others - fish roe was very nice, tigania shrimps with peppers very interesting, saganaki shrimps way too spicy, and fresh sea bass was huge and well cooked - but overall I was satisfied of almost everything I tried. We were even offered a small peanuts ice cream as dessert. Including wine, we spent less than 30 €, which is a very reasonable price considering that the whole dinner was fish-based and we were all pretty full. Ψαράκια & Θαλασσινά Βάρκιζα is definitely the best restaurant I tried at Varkiza, way better than more pretentious and luxurious others in the area....
Read moreWe had a lovely time at this seafood restaurant in Athens! The view was absolutely beautiful – right by the sea, with a calm and relaxing atmosphere. But what made our experience truly unforgettable was the kindness of the staff.
My mom had a reaction to the sun and wasn’t feeling well. The staff immediately noticed and went out of their way to help. They brought her water, moved a fan in front of her, and even set up a comfortable place for her to lie down and rest. One of them stayed nearby for about 15 minutes just to make sure she was okay. Their care and attention meant so much to us.
The food was delicious, the service was amazing, and the people were incredibly kind. Highly recommend this place – not just for the seafood, but for the heart they put into everything they...
Read moreFood is always decent here. Service was good at first but took forever to give us the bill. We saw another table walk out and leave because they didn’t get any service. When we left, we saw the restaurant across the street was very busy like this place was 7 years ago. I think there is a reason the tables are mostly empty here on a Friday night. Our salad was excellent as were the mussels. My cod was salty and I added salt and was disappointed I did that. We had to ask for the bill 3 times and it took forever and when they did they showed me the tip screen!!! Unreal. Pretty disappointed with this place. I also told the waiter we remembered him from 7 years ago and he could have cared less and just walked off after tipping him. He was rude 7 years ago...
