We visited Kinjo on May 30th, a party of two people. There were prons and cons to our visit. A big con was very loud music that also, in my opinion, did not match the atmosphere of the place (French rap). There were also pros and cons to the food:
The pros was that most things we tried were very very tasty. Personal highlights were the scallops and the tataki. Another pro was the cocktail which was well made.
The cons were in the rolls. The unagi roll was too big and the seaweed was chewy. Similarly, in the scallop and parmesan roll, the seawood was again chewy and the total flavour combination of the dish did not work well. Last but not least, in the udon, the bonito flakes would become mushy when mixed with the bisque.
Staff was attentive and actively sought feedback. We were also treated to some rum after we finished dinner.
Overall, although a positive experience, at this price range I would expect more attention to detail. I would probably visit...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at Kinjo Japanese Restaurant, this place was an absolute disaster. We had a reservation; we got seated outside at table as we requested and the waitress brought water. 15’ minutes later she showed up took our order AND that was it …!! We were completely ignored , it honestly felt like. After almost half an hour of waiting with zero service they brought a plate with 6 pieces of sushi for 3 people AND that was it…!! Suddenly we were invisible for a second time. No sense of urgency, no basic courtesy, just complete disorganization , the restaurant wasn’t even full, I’d rather say it was half empty! I sushi / Japanese restaurant that they don’t offer Wasabi 😂 (unless you ask for it). We waited far too long with zero service and ended up leaving without even getting food. If you value your time or expect even the most basic customer service,...
Read moreNice place at Vrilissia central square - cozy and quiet thanks to the the setup, service is excellent. Really liked the serving sets made of pottery. Try salmon tataki and crab carpaccio. Nigiri and rolls are tasty, some are a bit over-complicated and try to impress using multiple ingredients, but overall result in taste is rather positive. Quantity is good, however rather overwhelming for 2 people if you are in the mood of exploring the menu, since you often get 8 pieces when you really need 4 in order to taste more. Prices are quite high for a new entrant and you can end up with a bill comparable to established, fine dining restaurants of Athens. Prices can be justified, only to a certain extent, by the materials used and...
