Η Φαμελιά/Η Famelia — Restaurant in Municipality of Zacharo

We stayed in Kakovatos 15-25 June 2023 and discovered this family-run restaurant on our 2nd evening. Due to a one-week team-event we unfortunately couldn't return as often as we had liked ;-) But on the repeated occasions we managed it, we enjoyed the excellent and fresh food as well as the great, friendly service. One highlight was the possibility to select from the fresh-of-the-day-fish, another the possibility to flexibly order 'taste-this-and-that-dishes', we are especially grateful for that opportunity to try a nice variety of local food. Last not least, we had great chats in the course of the evenings we spent there and we'll for sure be back next year! Looking forward to meeting again, greetings from...

Ergänzung: Ich freue mich auf ein Wiedersehen in den nächsten Wochen

Ich kenne die Familie jetzt schon über 40 Jahre, die Tradition ihrer Tavernen in Kakovatos ist tadellos. Auch die neue Taverne, die nur wenige Meter ausserhalb des Ortskernes liegt, steht dem in nichts nach. Sehr gutes Essen, freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Ein schöner Platz auf einer sehr großen, überdachten Dachterrasse. Für meinen persönlichen Geschmack etwas zu hell, aber daran lässt sich sicherlich noch arbeiten. Unbedingt probieren: Auberginensalat und den lokalen weißen Wein. Auch die traditionellen griechischen Gerichte sind von sehr hoher Qualität.

Addition: I look forward to seeing you again in the next few weeks I have known the family for over 40 years now, the tradition of their taverns in Kakovatos is impeccable. The new tavern, which is only a few meters outside the town centre, is in no way inferior. Very good food, friendly and helpful staff. A beautiful place on a very large, covered roof terrace. Friendly, family place. Nice view, great food. There is something special about Greek hospitality... We ate a red snapper and took just a bit of swordfish, to try - as I have not eaten swordfish before. The fish was amazing, as I expected from these small Greek places. They know how to prepare fish. :) We finished our meal, paid, thanked for the service, went outside, walking to the car, and the father - owner of the place - who was in the kitchen, ran after me, just out of curiosity, to ask, how did I like the fish! :D This level of care is...
