ΤΑΒΕΡΝΑ ΓΕΩΡΓΙΑ — Restaurant in Nestos Municipality

Undecided if to really give 5 stars but ok. It holds (and will probably hold it for a good while) the distinction of being the restaurant with the hugest portions we ever saw in Greece. To be fair, everything in Keramoti seems supersized, it might be an adaptation to a certain demand. Anyway, there is no indication about it apart perhaps from the prices which seem odd for a little place in a ferry port: like 9 euros for a greek salad, 8 euro for saganaki, 8 euro for fried zucchinis. And they don't tell you anything which is annoying. Then it starts coming (very fast) and you realize with horror the mistake you made. The salad is close to 1kg with I think 250-300g of feta cheese (see thickness of the slice in the pictures), the zucchinis were probably 5 whole ones before frying and the saganaki cheese 3 slices. I must admit that I also fed 3 dogs and 2 seagulls with part of the leftovers. And everything else gets thrown away, which is a waste, sadly. The quality is mainly ok but not the best we had. The service was fast and the personnel was friendly (apart from letting us order a truckload of food...

This was a terrible experience. The portions were indeed large and reasonably priced. But everything else was bad: long time for the waiters to notice you; they tried to collect our order before giving us the menu; none of the dishes had any salt in them; most dishes were very fatty (swimming in frying oil, see photo). In addition: very uncomfortable chairs; no attempt to address the traditionally hot and humid weather, e.g. by putting a simple fan. This was the first time when we did not leave any tip. I'm still wondering about the mostly positive reviews of this place. My recommendation: avoid it if you can. Edit: thank you for the response. I could not have better illustrated the arrogance and hostility with which we were greeted. BTW, why is your response a year late? Came to eat my first fish of my vacation and was super disappointed of the food. So first of all the service was nice in the beginning after they got pretty busy and distracted and not interested in what we asked for. Waiting time was suuuuuper long waited for one of like 10 dishes for almost 2h. Food was super unsatisfying. Blend food and we had to remind them for some of our order which didn't come before we were already starving. The only good food I had here was the calamari but they came so late I was almost full already by waiting for the food and drinking water! The shrimp and the fish plate were alright as well but I was disappointed by the mossels which were tasteless and not as I expected. All in all I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for service or most of the food but you can come here if you have time and want to enjoy good and fresh...
