AVOID! The owner pushed my father aggressively. Here’s the whole story.
We sat down to have a late lunch today. We ordered a few meals and drinks. Half our order didn’t arrive so we needed to keep asking for things.
We tried to order some extra bits, the waiter was really rude and then it didn’t arrive. Whatever, we were fine with that and just wanted to go ASAP.
Bread was brought to the table that we didn’t order and this cost €7. Food was average at best.
We went to the toilet and it was absolutely disgusting as well. Only one sink was working in the men’s toilet (And not the women’s).
Then the bill came. There were multiple items that hadn’t been ordered or which never arrived. We went to the bar to point it out.
And that’s when …hit the fan
Immediately they became accusatory! There was no apology. They started reading out the bill, and they’d added a glass of wine (which nobody ordered) and a drought beer which I ordered and then reminded them but it never arrived. They put three salads on, and one of them hadn’t arrived.
We tried to explain there were a lot of mistakes and it was really confusing as they’d created two bills for one table for some reason (it was also all in Greek)
In the end, when they couldn’t explain it, my mother had enough. She said, right, I know what I had, give me a menu, I’ll write it all down and I’ll see if it matches up to your total.
They became really angry when she took out a piece of paper! Again, they said they “might have made mistakes” but wouldn’t accept the fact that we weren’t willing to pay for their mistakes and wanted to understand how much we actually owed.
At this point, an older guy, the owner, grabbed the piece of paper from my mom and told her how much discount she wants. She said it’s not about the discount at all, she wants to pay what she owes and nothing more.
He said it’s free, just leave. My dad said, fine we’re going then. My mum said she refuses until she’s paid for the food she has eaten.
A lady working there said, fine give us 100EUR (this was €20 less than the bill they invented) and go. After some back and Forth, my dad gave the lady 100EUR but the owner wasn’t happy (even though he said it’s free). He then pushed my dad and said to wait because he was calling the police (even though we just paid what the lady asked?!)
He kept pushing my dad, but he was a small guy, so in the end we simply walked out. He called after us and asked if we’re Romanian?! So probably racist towards Romanians too.
By the way, it wasn’t about the 10 or 20 Euros they overcharged. We normally tip at least that much when the service is good. It was about the arrogant attitude, the lack of accountability, the exceptionally slow and disinterested service and finally the assault by the owner.
Also, how is it that they made several mistakes on the bill and all were in their favour?
All in all, a horrible end to our...
Read moreThe owner is aggressive, he assaulted my husband because we questioned the bill. The service is very slow, you need to ask for things multiple times, they never arrive but rest assured they’ll be added to the bill (plus extras you never ordered).
We stopped here for a quick lunch before heading back home after our holiday in Greece. It was anything but quick. Took 2.5 hours to receive a few calamari and some salads and pay the bill.
After being ignored and spoken to rudely throughout the experience, we asked for the bill (twice). Finally, it came. It was all in Greek but we were able to gauge that there were some mistakes, so we went to the bar to ask for clarification.
But they weren’t able to explain why there was a glass of wine (never ordered), an extra two beers (my daughter had to ask them three times for a beer and finally received one) and extra salads added. The behavior was very rude and while they accepted they “may have made mistakes”, there was no apology.
So in the end, I just grabbed a piece of paper and pen and decided to work out the actual total. I wasn’t happy with the service and decided I wanted to pay exactly what we ate and drank and not a Euro more. The owner didn’t like this and snatched the paper and said it was free.
My husband said fine, we’ll go. I wasn’t happy with this either as I simply wanted to pay my bill and go, not have a free meal. This proved beyond the professional abilities of the restaurant owner and his staff members.
The other manager (?), a lady, said just give us 100 Euro and go. I told my husband to do that and left. He followed me after. I understood from him and my daughter that my husband handed over the money he was asked for (100 Euro) and then the owner started pushing him because he gave it to the lady manager rather than him. My husband walked past him and left because he wasn’t interested in fighting, we just wanted to go home.
If you want average food (and it was! The Greek salad was massive tomato chunks and lots of onion basically) slow and rude service, multiple mistakes, and an aggressive owner who is willing to physically fight you before he apologizes and accepts his mistakes, then this is the...
Read moreWorst service and attitude I have ever seen in Greece and I have been around every summer for the last 15 years! They are acting as if it is a Michelin star restaurant and not an average tavern, which they actually are. What do I mean: 1) very inhospitable and definitely hostile towards families with children. They complain that children do not consume as much as the adults and block the tables. They complain that the kids are walking around the table, which is in fact the most normal thing. We cannot tie them to the chairs, can we?!? 2) We were two couples with two children each. We came first and sat around the table. The other family came 10-15 min later. In the meanwhile they were pushy and asked me 10 times if they were to come and complained that the table is blocked. They refused to take our order before the other family arrives so my children had to eat plain bread for dinner; 3) The requirement to order simultaneously for the entire table occurred to be totally senseless because each of us received our food in different time - some ate, the other waited; 4) The food is no good either. I have ordered pork steak and it was rather overcooked and hard to chew. My wife ordered fried zucchini, which arrived 40 min later and cold. She ordered eggplant salad that never came and the bill was so vague that I was unable to find out if I had paid something that we didn’t receive. Kalamari and seafood were average and you can receive the same in every other tavern around.
In general I had the feeling that I am in the barracks and not in a tavern situated in a family resort.
I wouldn’t...
