We absolutely loved this place. Here is the thing: it is not elegant as some of the nicer places you might find in town. It for sure is nothing like the bland tourist food you find on every block of central Athens. This is not for the faint of heart. Instead, it feels like real salt of the earth kind of food, as if people have been cooking and eating this food for generations. This is like if you stopped into an old friends house and they were going to serve you whatever they had. Fresh cheese and tzatziki, home made bread, extra cooked veggies in a sauce recipe that has been handed down for longer than anyone can remember, lamb chops that that look nothing like a lamb chop you would find at a “fancy” restaurant, ie not finely carved and presented, but instead a slab of perfectly seasoned meat, bone and fat and cooked as if done on your neighbors bbq while drinking some beers with your buddies. And finally, if you are so inclined, there is the yogurt with marmalade. Deliciously fresh, light and lovely. This seems like old fashioned country food and the location and ambiance suggests the same. If you are in the area it is a must visit. Even if you don’t like the food as much as one of the more refined places back in town, it is worth a stop. As I said, this isn’t for the food snobs of the world. But if you like to eat a perfect Greek salad, chomp the gristle off a chard lamb bone then follow it with an ice cold beer and a spoon full of fresh made yogurt, you came to the right...
Read moreadorable and delicious. as one other review mentioned the menu was big, but they also weren't offering everything when we were there. things may have gotten lost in translation (this place feels very "authentic" and "local" and the people we spoke to definitely didn't speak english as well as most places closer to the port, but we did just fine!) but our impression after being told "it's not the season" is that they are a farm-to-table restaurant (we could see lots of gardens and animals!) and that what wasn't available was just not being grown at the moment. we were served some complimentary, really really incredible, cheese as we sat down. We only had light bites (shared salads and apps) and drinks (lots of beer for those of us who hiked!), but everything was fresh and delicious. The back patio was welcoming and pretty, and the service was great. would...
Read moreGreat little restaurant - we visited based on the good reviews. We had a few little dishes and tried the super tasty homemade salty cheese (offered to us free of charge), I wish they’d sell it there as well - so good!. Classic Greek dishes with no fuss but great flavours. Service was attentive and friendly - priced very reasonable. You can sit in the front or out in the back which is a bit nicer. The house white wine is also incredibly easy to drink and very good. Orange juice was freshly squeezed, we had the dish of the day (ratatouille). Lunch was rounded off with free watermelon.
Beware that the sign on the road leads you to a bigger car park but not the restaurant, I found this very confusing and we almost didn’t end up there and only found it by...
