This place was fantastic! A true jewel.
Atmosphere:
Beachy, airy and relaxed. Lots of shade if you need a break from the sun and magnificent view of the sparkling water. If I remember correctly I think there are a few tables in the sun as well if that's your preference.
Greeting:
Pleasant, friendly and relaxed with a smile, motioning to choose our own table.
Date and time of day:
Sept 23rd (and 24th - yes, we returned the next day because we enjoyed it so much) for lunch on both visits.
Food and drink:
We both had local beer on the first day (can't remember the name). On the second day I had the same beer and my wife had a cocktail (can't remember which one). The local beer was great but the cocktail was the only thing we didn't care for. On the first visit we had a greek salad and the kafta kebab. The greek salad was great and typical of what you'd see at other places with large pieces of peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes topped with delicious pieces of feta and tossed in olive oil. Always a winner! But out of all the places we've been so far the kafta kebab was the best thing we've had! Everything about it was absolutely delicious. Very, very good meal and highly recommend. The second day we had the beet root salad and the grilled octopus. Everything was outstanding and you could tell everything was made meticulously. The only change I would make is maybe not ordering the octopus and beet salad on the same visit as the portion sizes are very large. So be sure to bring your appetite.
Service:
We had excellent service on both visits. On the first visit Anthony served us and the second day we had Lorenzo serve us. Both were very personable and went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant experience. Anthony had some great recommendations for places to visit that were off the beaten path. We visited both places he recommended the next day and had a great time. Lorenzo had some great suggestions about other islands to see on future visits to Greece. Both Anthony and Lorenzo were pleasant, relaxed and informative which added to a great overall experience.
Price:
Prices were reasonable. The kafta I think was either 13.50 or 14.50 (sorry don't remember that one exactly). The beet salad was 8.50. Greek salad was 7.00. Grilled octopus 17.50. The beer was 4.50 (500ml). The only thing I thought was overpriced was the cocktail which I think was 12(?).
Overall:
Everything was excellent for all of the above reasons! Would we go back? Absolutely!...
Read moreThis review is a little late- we were here over 2 months ago, but we enjoyed the food so much that I have to write abt it ! We spent almost a good 4 hrs in the beach here on a beautiful morning (we rented one of their beach chairs) and because we had young kids and they were hungry ( and there were not that many food / restaurant options in the immediate vicinity) we decided to eat at the restaurant here. Mind you, honestly, we did not 'expect' too much when we sat down n ordered, but we were happy to note that they had vegetarian options. However, we were really pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of the food - the tomato based spaghetti that my kids literally ''inhaled down'' was hands down one of the best tasting basic pastas that I have actually had! ( I know right.. such a simple basic sauce , but yet not that many people or restaurants get it right and this was delicious and certainly memorable !!). The watermelon salad was very fresh , and the veg burger we had was also very tasty along with the nice potato salad. We enjoyed the cocktails too ( I fondly remember the one with gin and cucumber ). Overall, such good , memorable food, drinks and service that caught us by pleasant surprise during our holiday in this beautiful...
Read moreUpdate: (the owner’s response to my review only shows how unbelievably unprofessional and dishonest he is. As visiting Americans from San Francisco, the prices at your establishment were never the issue—it was your complete lack of any decency and professionalism that made us immediately want to leave.)
Horrible service. We had literally just sat down, when the “owner” came over to us slurring his words like he was drunk, demanding money for the umbrella. Not wearing a uniform, we were unsure if he was actually an employee, and we asked for someone in uniform to help us. He started yelling at us in front of everyone, saying why didn’t we want to talk to him?!?! We wanted to know if by buying cocktails it would waive the umbrella fee (similar to the beach we went to yesterday), and then he started yelling again about giving us the best deal he could. The whole experience was very unpleasant, and so we decided to leave. He then made a huge scene about us “making a mess” (we had moved one chair closer to the shade). Totally unprofessional and a joke of a...
